Dr. Sweeny was my family doctor for years before I moved back east. I`m a retired registered nurse, and I found her to be very competent, caring and often going beyond the call of duty, specially considering how very busy good doctors are. Returning to Vancouver to live & happy to see she`s still practicing.

She's been my doctor for years, was my mom and aunt's doctor as well. She is extremely thorough and has always been skilled at diagnosing illnesses/issues, especially uncommon ones. The wait times at her office can be long but if you get there in the morning usually not bad. She is well informed when it comes to newer research in medicine, drug trials etc. At times she is in a bit of a rush but she is a good listener and very caring. Would highly recommend her.

I have the utmost respect and appreciation for Dr. Sweeny's professional abilities. She is the most dedicated physician I know and regularly goes above and beyond the call of duty to serve her patients. I'm blessed to have her as my physician.

Dr. Sweeny talks down to patients and jumps to conclusions before considering facts and how her overall approach influences her medical opinions. She misdiagnosed me with hypertension after taking my blood pressure reading following a prostate check. My new doctor couldn't understand why she would arrive at such a conclusion as I didn't have hypertension, but measure any male's BP after a prostate check and it's going to be high. She just didn't recognize this. She also had a condescending attitude when my younger daughter came in for her shots and was so afraid she cried. Dr. Sweeney just rolled her eyes instead of reassuring her, which I found unprofessional. I personally only found her useful for referrals to specialists. I didn't appreciate how she jumps to conclusions without considering all facts and so we changed family doctors to someone else who is much more medically and socially aware. My kids love him and we are lucky to have found him.

Dr. Sweeny is a fantastic family doctor. She has been treating my family for over 10 years and I still feel lucky she accepted us a decade ago. She is incredibly committed and thorough. She has made herself available at all times when necessary and truly cares about her patients. She can be strict or dismissive when she doesn't agree with you, but I mostly appreciate it as I feel like she and I can have good conversations that inform me well when making decisions about my children's health. I think it could be helpful for her to attend some sessions on trauma-informed care, if only to build upon her already substantial knowledge and expertise (and help a little with the more dismissive side of her personality).

Overall I think she is an excellent physician who is dedicated, knowledgeable, kind, experienced and dependable. If she will accept you as a patient I'd jump if I were you!

I have been seeing her for the past twenty years and she is truly among the best. If you want someone who is thorough and knows medicine, she is the one! Still has a headmistress aura but she is very caring and on top of things!

One of the best Dr's I have ever had. She is analytical and gets to the bottom of the issue. But don't expect warm, fuzzy treatment, she's all business. And do expect to wait as she will spend extra time on each patient as needed (morning appointments are best).
