Dr. Dvorin is GREAT, but many on his office staff not so much..... Today, for example, when called back for my shots, a nurse held the door open for me to pass. Under the distancing circumstances I didn't want to squeeze past her so offered for her to go first for that reason. I said it pleasantly, with a smile, as there was no reason not to. She tisked, walked through, and kind of dropped her head in annoyance and whisked her arm for me to go first down the hall. I said I was sorry if that offended her, but it is a pandemic. When we got to the room, she talked to me very slowly as if to a child... Said she'd have to get close to me to give my shots. I responded that I would assume she'd do the best she could not to get near my face. She proceeded, slowly, to tell me every step of what she'd have to do (I've been going to them for 18 months or so now) and asked if I was okay with that. I said I was because I'm here.

She asked me the typical questions, to which I answered, and then said she thought I was very rude for what I said! Who says that to a patient?! I responded the same as I had every right to ask such a simple thing and asked it nicely. And then I even apologized to her for clearly offending her. She went on and on telling me how rude I was and the conversation got very heated. I said I couldn't believe she was talking to a patient that way and she replied, "so what if you're a patient!" On several occasions I stopped looking at her and not answering and she just kept going. After having to ask twice, I finally got another nurse to give my shots when she came in to hear what the ruckus was about. Then a few minutes later, the first nurse came back in verbally attacking me again! I couldn't believe it!

It's such a shame b/c I really like my doctor. I'll have to find another place though it may take some time and I medically can't be off the shots for my chronic hives. It's absurd that any patient would have to deal with such confrontation. Further, they never call back, are not good record keepers (this time, last time and one time after a bad reaction I had to correct them for what they had in my chart). Different office staff give out different information, like when their last shots are given in the day, what's covered under insurance, etc. Their shot schedules change often (even before COVID - right now they're only there 1.5 days/week), last time there were 4 nurses in addition to me in the 8x10' shot room (necessary?).

I just hope they don't withhold my records or give me any problems during the transition. It is likely I'll have to continue going there until I get set up somewhere else due to my condition. I have to trust they hold up the Hippocratic Oath, applying all measures for the benefit of the ill, and all that jazz.
