My wife and I went through the process ,and I will not recommend this place that's y cheap is always more expensive !! They do not explain things to you. I had to keep asking and really doing their job !! The process failed for us and I totally understand that it's not a for sure thing but I feel like we were not fully informed properly !! NOT RECOMMENDED!!

My husband and I went to South Padre Island the weekend of Nov. 17 to meet with Dr. Garza for the first time and inquire about IVF. A co-worker that I used to work with informed me about him since we were having difficulties getting pregnant. We were a bit skeptical in the first place about going to Mexico, 1.) you hear about the cartels and kidnapping that possibly goes on there, and 2.) you hear all the time that it's Mexico and is not safe. My family was very cautious about us going over there. Well for starters, I did my research, I read tons of reviews of women who are currently patients of Dr. Garza or who had went there for the first time and had no issues. We left Houston Nov. 16 to South Padre Island with an appointment to see Dr. Garza that Friday morning.

Two days prior to us leaving Houston, we contacted Dr. Garza on his cell to set up arrangements for his driver, Mario to pick us up at the Motel 6 in Brownsville to carry us across
the border. Now I know some are thinking, are you serious? You're going to meet with someone you've never met and travel into Mexico with them. Well to be honest, I was a bit concerned by that thought, but when I spoke with Dr. Garza and he assured us that everything would be fine, we just took the short drive from SPI to Brownsville, which is about 20mins, to the Motel 6 and waited about 30mins for the driver to pick us up in front of the hotel and take us into Mexico.

Once we were there, Mario took us directly to the doctor's office. We were also with another couple whom we met at the hotel that was going to see the doctor as well, it made me feel a little more safe. The doctor's office is located upstairs, very clean and very nice. The wait in the waiting room was only 10 mins after we signed in. Once we were called back, we were taken to the doctor's office and we waited another 1 mins and he came in and introduced himself to us. Very soft spoken man, he really doesn't have much to say, but for me, I brought my medical records from Houston to show what I already had done so we weren't repeating the same tests and spending more money.

I had one tube removed due to an ectopic I had years prior and my other tube was removed due to endometriosis, so IVF was my only option to pursue pregnancy. Dr. Garza gave us the pricing for the IVF treatment $2900, including the cost of medication, $1000 which was very cheap. The office visit that day was a total of $180, this was including my ultrasound and my husbands blood work and semen analysis. He instructed us to call him the next day (Saturday) to receive the results of my husbands blood work and semen analysis, which was normal.

We told him that we will come back in March 2018 to start treatment and he said that would be fine. We were in the office for an hour with him and when we were done, we waited for his driver to come back to pick us up and take us back across the border which was a 2 hour wait. Mario took us and the other couple to the pharmacy to fill our prescriptions before taking us back, He made sure that people didn't approach us and he was very helpful in translating to the pharmacist for our meds and we left with him to take us back across the border. It only took 20 mins to cross back into Brownsville, Mario took us back to the hotel around 2pm and we headed back to SPI for the duration of our trip and returned home on Sunday. I was very blown away by this experience and it was way better than what I had anticipated. I was so nervous and anxious about going that I worked myself up , only to see that everything went well and without incident. We are diffidently going back in March.

Although our attempt of getting pregnant was unsuccessful, I still wanted to leave a comment and rate Dr. Arturo Garza. He is a very kind and humble man. He is also a man of few words, so it is important to come prepared with your questions so that you can ask him and get answers. You do not need an appointment to go in, but you will wait. On any given day there are multiple patients waiting for consult or actual procedures and he does get through them all. You will typically be out of there within a couple of hours unless you do blood work and want to wait for results; it does take a little longer.

Ask for copies of the tests you have done so that you can keep for your medical files. I did not ask and they did email them to me, but it was not the best quality photocopy.

We had a medicated and monitored IUI, but I have had many friends who have done both IVF and IUI with him and been successful. It could take several tries, but the cost of treatment far outweighs that of the US. You could do THREE cycles of IVF in Mexico for what you pay for one here in the US.

For those of you wondering, it is about a five minute drive in after crossing the border and is pretty safe. There is a driver who you can make arrangements with, or just cross your own. It is recommended to have your passport, but your could cross with proper ID and Birth Certificate.

If you would like more information or to meet women who have visited Dr. Garza find the facebook group IVF, IUI, Infertility in RGV/Mexico.

First time at the clinic today and I do not speak any Spanish at all-- very helpful and I managed completely fine. Some of the staff spoke English and translated for one of the nurses, very helpful. Dr. Garza was amazing, a very caring, genuine physician. I look forward to the treatment with this clinic!

Dr. Garza is a great doctor. I highly recommend him. After an operation and an IVF miscarriage in the US we went to see him. After the first IVF with him we conceived our amazing baby boy. We are so indebted with him for this blessing. He is worth the wait at the appointments, they are first come first serve the day of your appointment. He is always busy and I honestly don't know how he does it all. As for the cashiers they are not a rip off. Either pay buy your credit or bank card or go and get your dollars exchanged elsewhere and come back and pay. They are just doing their jobs. My hubby and I have highly recommended this doctor to others having trouble conceiving as well.
