I've been seeing Dr Thomsen for more than 25 years, and have continued to do despite moving to the US in 2002. BC Med gives doctors 10 minutes for an appointment. If a patient is late or their issues take more than the allotted time, the doctors get backed up; she's not the only one that has this issue. How I've dealt with this is to be the first appointment of the day. No one before me, means I'm not waiting on anyone else. She's cared for me and my issues with empathy and compassion and never hesitates if she thinks I need a specialist or diagnostic tests. I always get follow-up calls when necessary. As a result, I'd rather take that flight back to Vancouver than see one of the many doctors available to me in the US. I consider myself lucky to have her all these years and she always knows my name.

I think she is a great doctor, knowledgeable and empathetic. I don’t mind that she is sometimes late, she always takes enough time with me.

She used to be excellent but over the past few years her punctuality has declined drastically and is now abysmal. Even making an appointment won't stop her from being up to one hour late, and it's a regular thing for her. The clinic at Ambleside Medical have no respect for other people's time and plan to wait for at least thirty minutes and up to one hour on a regular basis. Once she does actually she you, she's quite good but it would be great if patients could charge doctors for missed appointments.

Very often too rushed and forgets things. Doesn’t take kindly to any suggestions about what another (friend) doctor or pharmacist has said. Perhaps need to cut down her workload. Not overly organized.

Keeps her patients waiting a long time, doesn't listen when you tell her what the problem is as she is always rushing out the door during our visits. seems to be on the next patient before she finishes with you. she sometimes does not believe you when you tell her that there is a problem and gives a flip response before leaving the room. she used to care but it seems now she doesn't

Dr. Thomsen has been such an empathetic doctor. She has worked with multiple family members as well, and is thorough with investigations including appropriate referrals and diagnostic tests. I always feel heard when I see her, she has never dismissed my concerns.
Yes, punctuality is at times an issue, but I forgive that entirely. I do not mind waiting because I know she gives patients the amount of time they need despite having to work within a 10-minute sessions that the government allows for. I either allow for more time for the appointment, or schedule one early in the day.
