Dr Teal was on rotation the morning after my father had had 3 strokes in 1 day. He was diwn-to-earth, informative, compassionate, knowledgeable and displayed a savvy sense of insight that not only focussed on my father...but, on the varied dynamic/reactions/concerns for my mother, my siblings and, myself in processing and dealing with the very serious situation we all faced.
He was honest but also encouraging. No sugarcoating or half-truths. He was kind and cooth in presenting to us.
3 weeks later we saw him again during his rotation (my sister and mother this time) and, they felt the same as I had. I managed to run into him as I left VGH and he reached out to me and we had a brief but meaningful discussion. A few hours later we rec'd the excellent news that dad was being transferred to the Critical Care/Neurology Tower at Surrey Hospital (Great news!)
So fortunate to have had these short meetings with Dr Teal. They were condensed but, by no means were they short on value or Intel.

The last and most recent review is textbook to my situation. This guy gives you a massive sense that he does not care at all about you. I've had major medical event that was atypical and abnormal stroke. Yet he showed up an hour late and probably spoke for 15mins for our first meeting after the hospital. What's more he was supposed to follow up on an array issues and it's been a month with out a single reply. The follow up issues were considered time sensitive. He literally rushed me out saying he has a meeting. WHY DID U SCHEDULE THIS TIME, MAKE ME WAIT AN HOUR THEN TO SAY U GOTTA GO. I know Teal is highly spoken of but I am convinced it excludes his patience and more to his other work in the hospital. Which I can't understand. If you dont have time for your patience then dont take them on. I didnt ask for u, you directly said wanted to when I was in the hospital because of the depth of the situation. It's been about 4 months since my incident and I've probably only seen him a combined 35mins. Hospital visit and follow up. 35mins for a patience that had an abnormal stroke that still isnt entirely clear. I'd reccomend to look into a back up for this guy if you get him and find him acting in a similar way. If so do not risk ur health and well being, have another doctor ready to be able to take over if hes not going to go the full. Receptionist is commonly not available even tho they state hours for phone inquiries.

I paid almost a grand privately to see this doctor because of all the good reviews. He showed up 45 mins late without an apology spent very little time with me didn’t listen to my story/symptoms. I can with a sever back I jet from the chiro being unable to sit since November because of referred nerve pain to my feet. He completely ignored my back looked at my feet and told me I have some rare disorder in my feet. My feet didn’t have nerve pain until the day I saw the chiro. I’ve had ever test on my feet and the foot specialist said there’s nothing wrong with my feet it’s coming from my back injury. He may be a good doctor in the public health care but just takes your money privately. Wouldn’t order any MRIs or tests/exams. Said he would do a nerve conduction test but haven’t heard anything in over 4 months. Stay away from the private clinic in Vancouver.

Excellent Dr. We are lucky to have him. He cares about prevention and not just treatment which is rare.

Dr. Teal and staff were very efficient and compassionate. Not dismissive of my questions about my daughters condition and my "Google" research. He took time to reassure us and was thorough in his examination. He ordered tests and we will go from there.
