Dr. Asamoah was inattentive, condescending, and invalidating. He was focused on transcribing using his dictaphone about me in the third person. He didn't know how migraines affect the quality of life in spite of a braggy office with "intern of the year" award from a decade ago. The advice he gave was generic and against others providers. On insomnia & hypersomnia from migraines, he suggested I get tips for better sleep on the national science foundation website. On fluctuating appetite, he suggested that I should not eat on the days I don't have any appetite as "something has to give" and weight loss is a matter of creating a calorie deficit.
He told me thrice about his difficult lifestyle changes as his father & brother are diabetic, and how doesn't have "headaches" like I do so runs half marathons every week. I came out feeling nihilistic like I'm doomed to a life of diabetes & coronary issues because of my genetics and I can only postpone those problems by getting to a healthy weight. I hope nobody else with a brain injury gets told that if they can't push through their "headaches" and take the "magic pill" of intense cardio, they are doomed to a life of multiple comorbidities.

I submitted the May 30, 2016 comment below and I have stayed with this doctor. Subsequent appointments have been much better. So much better, in fact, that I enjoy going. He does listen to me. I had a symptom worsen and he changed my medication and the symptom has subsided.

Do not expect to be helped by this doctor. He does not listen, has very little interest in actually helping you, and will not investigate into your symptoms if he believes you are fine. He also only does in office ultrasounds, so you will not have an official read done by a radiologist. Stay far away from this office.

I wish we could rate the physician on personality or beside demeanor. I've never meant a more arrogant doctor. He did do an ultrasound on my thyroid to show me that it was all "in my head" and order several blood tests to prove that I don't really have a problem other than being a fat American. Who knew that my problem is just laziness and over eating? I felt completely dismissed and demoralized. I would NOT recommend this doctor if you want to have a chance to speak or feel like your doctor cares.

Horrible experience. He just calls you a fat American. Doesn't listen, should consider retiring since he's obviously tired of dealing with patients who won't comply with his very non-medical-based advice. Forget tests, he just looks at your thyroid and says you don't need medication. I said I wanted the blood work anyway, which came back saying I need MORE than what I was taking, not less! Save yourself, save your money...seek a real doctor who cares.

I saw him years ago and thought he was arrogant then. After reading the comments here I remember he was. I am pretty sure he was done with me when I refused to take any more statins and he then failed to hear anything else I told him.

That was a long time ago and now anyone can get blood tests on line and there is a multitude of support groups on the web that are ready willing and able to assist you in understanding those test.

Arrogant doctors are going the same way as the hose and buggy.

Asamoah didn't listen to me very often and if he did it was just long enough to tell me I was wrong.

not impressed with him. Very big ego and inhibits his ability to help patients. He basically said I was fat and the reason why I was fat was because I was lazy. I have never been disrespected by a doctor or professional like that. Wow. Even if it were true is that appropriate? He did not even know me or my situation or if I exercised ever day when he said that. I never went back. I don't care if he is knowledgeable or not.

I had my first appointment with him last month. I had been seeing another Dr. in his office who moved away. I told him I was tired because I wasn't sleeping. He said everyone is tired but him. He gets 4 hrs sleep a night and feels wonderful! Good for him! I've always needed 8 or 9 hrs. to be optimal so getting 5 - 6 hrs a night was leaving me listless and unmotivated. I wonder if he ever considered that all his patients are tired because they have ENDOCRINE disorders? It doesn't inspire confidence when you are not taken seriously. My next appointment is in 6 mos. We'll see how that goes.

He's smart. Just ask him. He'll tell you. Over and over again. You are fat and lazy, just ask him. He'll tell you.

Dr. Asamoah is very upbeat and positive. He's also very knowledgeable and patient. He has been treating my diabetes for about 5 years and has helped me understand more about the condition and the need for constant monitoring of my blood sugars. His staff is courteous and efficient. I highly recommend him.
