This lady is not a real doctor she is just a therapist, my daughter just got diagnosed with autism finally after all the tests and what not and this lady just thought she had a bad attitude so it was her word when against ours as her parents and now she can get her therapy and all these other things but she should’ve been already getting these things but she wasn’t because of this lady who literally a "Karen ". And Again a Not a doctor just a therapist so if you as parent ever had doubts about this lady go see another actual doctor.

She diagnosed my son in 2001 with ASD and looking back now I can see that it was a correct diagnosis, although I think she was still a fairly new developmental paediatrician and some of the questions she asked him puzzled both my husband and me as he was only 2.5yo and she expected him to engage in a full-on conversation with him. He was verbal, but a 2.5yo typically cannot engage in that type of spontaneous conversation. I think she may have thought he was more severely on the spectrum than he was. Her only word of encouragement to us that day were “he may one day live an independent life”. One year later he was reassessed by her again and she was surprised that he had moved off the spectrum. Perhaps this was because he was on the low end of it to begin with, and partly because he was diagnosed reasonably early, and with that diagnosis my husband and I went to great lengths to make sure he had early intervention.

One thing that stands out and still bothers me about the first visit with her and with her diagnosis is that she never offered to give us any glimmer of hope, and more importantly, no type of insight where we should seek help for him. We were essentially on our own. It was only after I cried to my sister, an RN at Sick Kids, that I found out from her that Dr Wendy Roberts had published a study about autism that said 1/3 of children move off the spectrum with intervention. Why didn’t Karen Harman tell us that?

If you like to talk to a new student every time, and let her breeze through many issues and leave your child to suffer she would be your ideal . If you like to consistently have someone mess up a diagnosis and change it every four months, she is the best. If you want your child to be looked after, cared for, a good response time and a follow up, go to someone else.

Very patient doctor. She does not jump to conclusions when investigating my daughters condition. Very open to what i may be concerned about, and she is willing to listen to my thoughts.

Words can't explain what a truely wonderful doctor and person Karen Harman is. The time she has taken the care she has given, the reasurance and straight forward honest answers. She has went above and beyond numerous times for my son. Thinking of all she has done for my child, and me, brings tears to my eyes. Without Dr. Harman, her quick response, knowledge, and care I don't know where we would be now.

Dr Harman is a very thorough doctor. My son was referred to her with a slight learning disability. she dispatched him for many tests to see what his challenges were. After all the tests were completed she set up an appointment with the OT, speech path etc. to set up a plan for my son. He was diagnozed early and I believe this will make all the diference for him. thanks Dr. Harman!
