Actually it is true that he does not have very good bedside manners and is somewhat condescending. I must add though that it is not as bad as it is described in some reviews. I would say that he probably is old school with regards to patronizing the patient. I still think though that he means well and has the best interest in mind. As for myself after the first visit I did not go back, because unfortunately I am intelligent enough to be addressed in a patronizing way from a doctor with whom I receive the most intimate and close-personal care possible. Again there could be women who actually like this style of communication. And I'm glad I got this off my chest and that some here see it similar to me (I thought I was crazy for thinking the way I was thinking about this doctor although he is highly professional in every other way).

One Fertility is a wonderful clinic...with one exception...Dr.Hughes. He has the most horrible bedside manner I've ever dealt with in a doctor. Extremely condescending, dismissive, and narcissistic. Go to One Fertility, BUT request another Doctor there.

We spent years trying to conceive and Dr. Hughes and his team of ultrasound technicians and nurses were incredible. They helped us make tough decisions, held on to hope when we couldn't and provided exceptional care. He is a very caring and very knowledgeable physician, his car and his artistic talent do not enter the equation. He has a great sense of humour and allows you a window into his life too. He has called to check on me when I've had challenging treatments and procedures, he followed up even after my daughter was born. He has amazing bedside manner, can accept and answer challenging questions and guide you through decisions you were hoping you wouldn't have to make. I was 38 when I conceived and it was after multiple procedures. I cannot say enough about his care and his commitment the field of infertility.

He is an egotistical *ss. He compared having a child to buy a car. We switched to another doctor after a couple of visits and shortly after my wife got pregnant. He is old outdated and needs to get out of the business. All he cares about is making money hanging his paintings around the office and paying for his Porsche.

We found Dr Hughes and his staff to be outstanding!!!! Any question answered, concerns addressed and phone calls returned. Anyone looking to go down this road he is definitely the one help. We have had success at another clinic in another province and comparing the 2 clinics is like night and day, one fertility is by far the best. Oh and we are expecting our second child!

Simply amazing doctor and individual! Dr. Hughes was helpful from day one of our fertility experience. Any questions we had, he was there to answer them. I did run into complications during my pregnancy and he himself called our house numerous times to check up on me. The entire Fertility One staff was fantastic to my husband and I.

Comment: Dr Hughes has been incredibly negative and unhelpful to us during a period which has been very upsetting and disappointing. We feel he has been in the infertility business to long to care anymore and only cares about his statistics and getting first time successes. Unless you are 28 with a huge egg reserve dont bother seeing this guy!!! We have barely started ivf and he has recently given up on us when all of the research we have done ourselves has suggested that whilst our chances are not fantastic we are both healthy and have hope. Any ideas we brought up, he shut down and said based on his 30 years of being in the business nothing will work! We know three couples of a similar age with similar odds who all had success with a more positive doctor so we are switching. Dr Hughes has been cold and robotic with his treatment of us. We don't want to see anyone else dealt with in such a manner.

We are thankful to Dr. Hughes for our beautiful son. He was always kind, compassionate and honest, even when the news wasn't good.

Dr. Hughes and his team of professionals are the very reason that my husband and I were able to conceive our 2 beautiful children. We were scared and uncertain as to what to expect during our IUI consultations and treatments. He walked us through expected and unexpected results all while making us as comfortable as possible. Simply amazing staff! I have and will continue to recommend to others who require fertility treatment!

We first saw Dr. Hughes back in 2007. I wasreferred to him due to unexplained infertility. He diagnosed me with PCOS and was very quick to send me for testing and blood work to determine this. I was lucky enough to get pergnant in my first round of IUI through his clinic. We now have 2 beautiful sons and I would have my amazing family with out the help of Dr. hughes and his wonderful staff. Their hours are great. You are always able to contact a nurse and speak to them if you ahve question. The follow-up through your first trimester is great, especially since you often have some many fears and questions. I remember panicking when i had implantation bleeding-thinking i might be miscarrying and the staff were amazing, talked me through my fears and had me come right in to check my HcG levels. There is not a better clinic to be at.
