Rushed treatment in the 80’s and 90’s. Many Northside patients had to get brace again later on in life to correct shifting of teeth and rush treatment.

Dr. Guthrie moved my teeth way too fast (10 months) and pulled them forward at a slant that screwed up my bite. Also, he decided to keep my wisdom teeth and pull four perfectly good teeth. Many years later, I have many issues due to his poor work. Unfortunately, he has retired, so I cannot contact him. I would like to find out if it was the practice of the day, so to speak, or if he was incompetent.

Dr. Guthrie and his staff were very professional, and I'm very satisfied with the work they did. Was sorry to see that he has retired...

Very dissapointing experience. I left Alberta in 2001. Lindsey Guthrie did my braces, leavingme withopen bite and Tmj. I went to Gail Burke for a 2nd opinion, because I was having problems and lost confidence in Dr Guthrie. She sent me to a Prosthodontist in the Southend who was trying to be policitally correct, but basicly my bite was screwed up. I moved to NB and had to get retreatment for another 2 years by an orthodontist. Apparantly, my teeth were moved too fast by Dr Guthrie and I had "resorption of the roots" and developed TMJ. The TMJ has since been corrected, but I ofter thought I should have filed legal action against him.

Having braces seems to be one of those rites of passage that our children go through in this age of seeking perfection. It is a very expensive undertaking that is spread over a few years while the person is undergoing treatment. The results are not always perfection as we found with our son. he had to have two teeth removed on the top before therapy and likely should also have the same done on the bottom as is still crowded some ten years after the last examination. If one is not careful, and if children are not fully attentive to brushing and flossing, the teeth can become permanently etched or discolored and prone to dental cavities which are not something that these specialists see by way of follow-up. I expected a better end result than our son received and paid the same as other parents did at the same time whose children got a better end result. Bummer!
