I had a total knee replacement Dec 20. In Jan once swelling was less, i can feel that the knee was sloppy, made noose and basically worried me. In the fracture clinic 2 weeks later he said it was normal and he was standing 6 ft from me. He never did an examination. 3 months later, same thing. The knee never improved so I saw a specialist in London who confirmed my joint is too loose. So now I have to get it revised. Horrible to hear this.

My experience with Dr. A. Elashaal was totally AWESOME !!! He replaced my left hip (arthritic.....almost bone on bone ) 5 years ago. Ten months later, I was BACK playing hockey !!! I was 68 years old at the time of replacement and am now 73 years old. STILL playing hockey 3 times a week with my 'Old Timer' pals. He was EXCELLENT in every way !!!

I saw Dr. Elashal in the fracture clinic. He did not look at my foot or x-ray. His staff member was screaming at me asking why was I here. This was at 6:30 in the morning. If I could give his staff member a 0 I would. He did not look at my foot or x-ray and just said to go get a boot, which cost 550.00 and I was only given one option where to get it. It did not help the problem, I got further x-rays which showed my foot was broken and healed wrong. I requested another doctor.

Dr. Elashaal was the weekend floor doctor during my stay at the hospital. He wasn't the doctor that operated on me the week prior but was in charge of the nurses on that floor as well as all patients over the weekend. I don't know if it was because he wasn't my operating doctor or if he was simply just upset to work the weekend but Dr. Elashaal was the least helpful and caring doctor I have ever met. He showed no interest in my concerns and questions, avoided eye contact and appeared to not even be listening to what I said. It was very clear that this doctor's main priority was to get you out asap so another new patient (health card) can be scanned in! His bedside manners are horrible and I am very glad I didn't have him as my operating doctor. No care, no sensitivity and you just feel like another number in the system. Unfortunately Ontario health care has a lot to blame because of this too but no excuse for this lack of professionalism.

I am currently suing one of his staff members. I don't think i need to say anything more. As for his own ability i would rate that 5 out of 5

I had rotator cuff surgery back in 2004. Was his last surgery of the day, then he got on a plane to his homeland for a 5 week vacation. He left the nurses with my post surgery orders which consisted of an appointment to see him upon his return to Canada. This confused the heck out of my physiotherapist because he assumed I would begin with physio right away. Instead October of that year he had to perform a procedure on my shoulder because of his lack of knowledge I acquired a frozen shoulder. To this date I still hurt every minute of everyday and more if I actually do any type of repetitive motion right down to brushing my hair.....His response to my chronic pain that he created was to "learn to live with it " Great bedside manner, eh!

One of the rudest doctor I’ve meet in my life. He saw me when my doctor wasn’t their 3 weeks after my knee surgery and was very rude didn’t even get off his chair to look at my knee and when I asked him I need a refilllbon my prescription he said why don’t you ask your neighbour and when I said why would I ask my neighbour he said oh I’m just kidding. That’s not a joke and very unprofessional.

Dr. Elashaal was excellent. He assessed my condition quickly and reviewed the available options with me. He asked me several times if I had any questions and could tell I was very nervous. My sense is that his quiet demeanour may be perceived as arrogance but he was top-drawer with me as were his staff. I have had several surgeries in my life and Dr. Elashaal is among the top surgeons in terms of approachability, expertise and understanding that I have met. Excellent experience.
