I've been a patient of Dr. Ng for close to 30 years. I can attest that the other comments you've read here are true or very similar to my personal experience. I finally decided to not have a family doctor rather than continue going to him.

My recent experience include:
- misdiagnosed a tumor as a ganglion cyst (even though ultrasound concluded that was not a cyst). He assumed it was nothing and will go away. Resulting in delayed surgery for 2 years.
- selective hearing, not willing to listen to your health concerns, but rather talk about irrelevant life stories or other patients' conditions
- unable/refused to fill out even the most simple form from the health authority, resulting in visits to emergency departments when it can be done on a outpatient basis (4 days in hospital ER vs. 30 minute procedure in the same hospital as radiology outpatient)
- another incidence of not able to fill out forms - called me back to the office just so he can fill out a referral form with all the information he already has. Waste of my time, but he got paid for his.
- breach of patient confidentiality - disclosed my own private and confidential medical condition to a family member, and asked that family member (who had no knowledge of it) to contact me regarding it. We don't even live together! Now everyone in my family knows!
- paper thin walls - Dr. Ng has a loud and penetrating voice. I know exactly what is going on in the next room. Though in recent visits he is only using one room...yet I can still hear him while waiting outside.

Dr. Ng and Christine (receptionist) are not the nicest person in the world. I was very lucky to be relatively healthy and did not have to visit too often. But service and expertise has certainly gone downhill for a number of years now. I've noticed that his office is not as busy as before. No longer have to wait an hour to see the doctor, and appointments can be booked relatively quickly. I wonder why...

I usually don’t leave terrible reviews about any business but I feel like I’ve run out of patience. Our whole family goes to this Dr. Ngs office. It’s been really difficult to find another doctor in BC so we have no choice.
Being rude once or twice is acceptable but we have had numerous experiences of him being super rude / racist.
These are some of things he’s done in front of me or my family members.
- he’s ripped up my blood work results from a different doctor that has asked me do blood work.
- he’s written the wrong name on my prescription not once but twice. When I called to say I couldn’t get my prescription because it was the wrong first name he simply said “the pharmacist was dumb”
- he has told my sister that she doesn’t require further investigation into her issues so she has gone to see a naturopath and now has to pay out of pocket.
- he has forgotten to write my name on a lab req (only had his personal stamp) and suggested that I write it in.

We all feel like we need a lot of extra medical help but we have no choice at the moment.
The front desk receptionist is super difficult to talk to and makes me not even want to book an appointment.
I’m really surprised that this practice is still open especially after reading most of the comments.
I’ve heard “well, sorry” and seen him shrug his shoulders too many times.

I hope everyone finds good care that they deserve but this MD is not the one.

Dr. Ng is knowledgeable and helpful. He always remind my family to get regular body check.

My mother is his patient. He was treating an infection she had. He told her she was fine after medication. She was still not feeling well and ended up going into emergency tonight where they ran tests and found her infection hadn't cleared and she was put on stronger medication.
Avoid Dr.Ng. in my personal opinion he just wants to get you in and out quickly so he can get paid and doesn't care about you as a patient. He is an embarrassment to his profession.

I was one of his original patients when he first started out in Chinatown, over 35 years ago as a teenager. Over the years, his quality of service has gone down to a level that was totally unacceptable.

I'm just glad I was able to find a professional doctor. Stephen should have retired a long time ago, and get some anger management treatment for himself...

Very knowledgeable . Very professional. Wait time is down. It is difficult to find a doctor that speaks Cantonese so I am happy and appreciate Dr, Ng service.

Dr. Ng speaks Cantonese and is very helpful explaining illness to elderly patients in Cantonese. Sure we had to wait a bit but it’s not unexpected in any professional office. Those that complain about him then go find another doctor if you can. I find Dr Ng to be extremely knowledgeable and helpful.

Dr. Ng has been our family doctor for ages, but his services is getting worst and worst. Not only need to wait for long time, get scolded from time to time from him and his receptionist. His temper and patience thin out quickly if you try to stop him telling you his own personal story. He was once a very good doctor and I think he should just retire.
