I first met this incredible doctor in 1973. He treated me for allergies. I went through the desensitization program over a long period of time. Eventually he prescribed an allergy serum that I continued using for about 8 years. My allergies cleared up. In all those years, I never had to use antihistamines or any of those other drug products that made me ill. The few dollars that I spent on allergy serum was well worth the money. I firmly believe in his methods and treatments. Skepticism is for those that do not believe in the immune response. Like the scientist Louis Pasteur, he had to experiment and practice on his own with his own knowledge and beliefs. He is a true scientist and one who should be honored for his work. Imagine what good could have been done, if he had had more medical and scientific backing and promotion for his work. Then we would not need all the pharmaceuticals that are pushed on us at a much higher cost. His intelligence has been lost on this century . He truly was a patient, kind, knowledgeable and exceptional doctor. I believed in his theory and method so much that I located him once again and took my infant daughter to him because of her colic. He was right about the milk sensitivity. To this day I continue to thank him for all that he did for me. He never had a fancy office, he had dedicated staff that assisted him and he was always warm and welcoming no matter how busy he was. He has not been given enough credit for his work on allergies I feel that he should have been provided with the state of the art research facilities to better progress his work. I searched for him once again regarding allergies and I found this website and now I know that he has passed on. Such a leader in immunology. He should be given more credit and recognition. God knows that he tried. In admiration and respect do I write this note on this site for others to also acknowledge his contribution to medical science. I would hope that his family has maintained records of his research and maybe some will be published some day. Thank you Dr Van Hoogenhuize for caring for me and my family. Dr. Van Hoogenhuize saved my life back in 1983. I learned a lot from him and have thought of him and his wife often over the years. I just now found out he's gone on to Heaven. I'll visit with him up there. I hope his wife is doing well and i never met the children but i believe they have 7 all with allergies. Ive told many people about the provacative testing and how Dr. is so incredible.

Dr. Van Hoogenhuize was an exceptional person and specialist. His knowledge was astounding, but he spoke to you as a human being and was always willing to listen and inform. If only their were 100's more like him. May he Rest In Peace

I have been going to Dr V since I was a child. He is the only allergist who does so much testing & has helped me immensely. He knows what he is talking about. He does not sell fish oils! The only thing he provides is allergy serum. That must have been someone else. People come from other countries to see him.

After years of not being heard he took the time. My first appointment was over 2 hours. After a year of thorough testing he had the information needed to address the medication I needed. I have been pain free for over a year and my function is way up. I actually have a life now thanks only to Dr. Van Hoogenhuiz. The first post is not him I am sure of that!!!! I am so glad I met him!!!

Could this be the same Doctor that had a branch office in Muskoka and just forgot to return the next spring. Left hundreds of patients high and dry without any warning or goodbye. He was a good talker/Doctor and selling his fish oils and health foods were top of the list.

Dr. Van Hoogenhuize is a hybrid doctor, and educated about and treats chronic illnesses that most doctors write off either as untreatable or 'all in your head'. I found the support I needed to finally address years of chronic fatigue, food and other allergies, and fibromyalgia pain. The doctor is on time and provides care in a number of centres.
