Everyone was wonderful. I made and earlier comment that I wanted to rectify after having surgery by Dr Welch. He’s the best!

I was there for a consultation and will not be returning. Rude and not treated with the dignity I deserved.

I was wheeled into Dr. Welch’s office with my MRI on Wednesday for a consultation. The next day I walked out with no pain after he performed a micro discectomy. He gave me my life back.

I had severe bone spurs removed from my C6, C7 & C8 vertebrae 6 weeks ago. Dr. Welch was gentle, kind and very competent. The pain that I presented with is completely gone. I would, and have, recommended Dr. Welch to anyone having spinal problems.

I was referred to Dr. Welch by a local MD who is well respected, a pain management doctor. Having done close work all my life I developed a severe spinal stenosis first diagnosed in 2008 but much worse now.
Not knowing the outcome of this type of operation I put it off as long as I could.
During the last 15 months moderate to severe and constant nerve pain radiated down my arm and into my fingers. I was becoming partially incapacitated. It was time to do something.
On the recommendation of professional friends I visited and spoke with I believe some of the finest doctors in the country. First at Rothman, then Hershey Medical Center and finally Dr. Welsh. I have little doubt that good results would have been had at these other places but what I was looking for was someone who I was comfortable with as being the best of the best.
My first appointment took a while to get but I only have one spine and my mission was clear.
Speaking to Dr. Welsh the first time, it was clear to me that this was a dedicated professional who I felt confident, would relieve my condition.
After speaking to my family the decision was made and an appointment for surgery set up.
The morning of my surgery came and waiting with my wife outside of the operating room I was greeted by my anastasiologist as well as some other Doctors who would assist in different functions, spine monitoring ext. Dr. Welsh was right on time and came over to reassure us that this would be fine.
Some hours later I came to and was taken to my room in the Pavillion, a section of the hospital where there was a private room and my wife could stay with me.
Later that afternoon we were visited by Dr. Welsh and his team to tell us about what they found and what they did.
Later that evening I was up for a walk around the floor.
The next morning we drove home to the Poconos, about 100 miles.
In a day I was up and walking around the house. I told my wife that everyday I felt about 5 cents better.
Now 6 weeks out I am able to drive to Pittsburgh to see the grandchildren by myself and pain free.
What an amazing experience.
I never for a minute thought my outcome would be this good.
Dr. Welsh is a world class surgeon and I wholeheartedly recommend him and Penn Medicine.
I took my Harley out last Sunday and had a great ride. I can work at my bench again and all is back to normal.
Thank you Dr. Welsh for giving me my life back.

After the initial interview with Dr. Welch, I felt quite confident that he was the right doctor for me. He was knowledgeable and addressed all the issues and questions that I had before I could even ask him about them. So thankful that I am now pain free and can resume my active lifestyle thanks to Dr. Welch.
