I saw Dr Rice for neck and back pain because he'd come so highly recommended, but I experienced him as abrupt and impatient. And the staff? Well, listen to this: I found out that my insurance wouldn't cover an MRI until I saw a PT. I got the denial from the insurance company in the mail but heard nothing from Dr Rice's office for two weeks, so I finally called to see what was going on. When I asked why I hadn't been referred to a PT, the person I spoke with said, "Oh, once we get an insurance denial, we don't deal with it anymore." When I asked to get a referral to a PT, she said, "I'll ask Dr Rice if he wants to deal with it." God as my witness, that is what she said. I'll never go back.

I suppose that some could have a negative opinion of Dr. Rice. My opinion of him is what he's done for me, over the past 4+ years has allowed me to function. I have SI issues as well as herniated discs issues that at times can be debilitating to a point I can barely walk. The first time I saw him, I was in a wheel chair. He reviewed my MRI and suggested a transforaminal epidural for the herniated disc problems. Immediately following the injection, I was able to walk instead of the need of the wheel chair. I follow up with appointments every 3 months for treatments for my SI issues as well as discs issues. I never leave without satisfaction! Thanks Dr. Rice.

Dr. Rice is Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde...two appointments, two different experiences. First one, he was smart, funny, nice. Second one, he was a cranky, irritated with a poor attitude...purposefully hurt me when I discussed another provider's opinion (channeled Dr. Orin Scrivello). Not a fan of walking on egg shells, stroking doctors' egos, or not knowing what you're going to get.

Dr. Rice may be an anesthesiologist but he has terrible bedside manner, is rude, doesn't listen and constantly touts Pilates as exercise for back pain. He is shot driven and doesn't have a light touch at all. He has constant turnover in his office and I have personally seen him berate an employee in front of everyone. Life is too short to have to put up with this type of behavior. He also refused to send my medical records when I found another pain clinic. Luckily he's not the only pain doc in town. Don't waste your time.

I suffer from sciatica. Dr. Rice has been able to give me some relief from the constant pain I am in. He and his staff are friendly and efficient. Dr. Rice has answered any questions I have come up with. He informed me of the risks of the before performing the procedure. I highly recommend him.

I have been seeing Dr Rice regularly for the past four or five years. He is very direct. His treatments work. His scheduling system is quite efficient. He cares about controlling my pain. He is a busy man and sometimes he may seem abrupt. He has to make difficult decisions everyday and he is very good at what he does. Five stars. Boom!

He is egotistical and his staff is unreliable in terms of communication and scheduling. Unfortunately I think this is true of most doctor's practices. His specialty is in administering steroid shots and that's about it. If the shots work for you, it's probably worth enduring his obnoxious behavior for the pain relief. If not, avoid.

I was referred to Dr. Rice after hurting my back at work. At my first appointment with Dr. Rice, he belittled my injury and immediately forced me into getting steroid injections in my back. I informed him my fear of needles and he didn't say anything. He rushed the procedure, and shooed me out the door. I had a bad reaction to the steroids, didn't know where I was/dizzy/slurring words/sweating. My boss called Dr. Rice to find out what could be going on, Dr. Rice then told my boss that I was faking it. He also told my medical group (I'm active duty military) that I was faking all of it and that I should be kicked out of the military. That is now in my file. I DO NOT recommend Dr. Rice to anyone.

While trying to get information on a prescription refill Dr. Rice went off on my 94 yr. Old grandma. He is a pompous gerk who has a temper problem when questioned. I would never refer anyone to him.

Several years ago I went to Dr. Rice because I had taken a serious fall when a ladder I was on broke. I went almost two years in progressively worse pain and an increasing case of sciatica down my right leg. Being a golfer, I was gradually losing my ability to play and even to walk well. I had signed up to play in a golf tournament in South Carolina and when I realized I might not be able to play and would lose my entry money, I began calling several physicians until I ran onto Dr. Rice. His office manager told me she would talk to Dr. Rice and seed if there was any way on earth she could get me in right away regardless of the cost. At any rate, Dr. Rice called me back that same afternoon and said that I could see him there next day after his last appointment, and to make a long story short, when I walked out of his office, I was brand new, and without pain. I played in the tournament painless. I have since gone back for one other treatment, and I have both taken and referred other friends to him. He's straight to the point. That might be misconstrued as egotistical, but I can tell you for sure, he knows exactly what he's doing!!
