I have used Dr, Black for a number of years. He has always been very responsive and is proactive in his care. The office staff is also responsive and there is virtually on wait time in his office before you are seen.

he is a very nice person,but sometimes seems like he just doesn't know if he should treat you or send you on your way.It would be nice if the office would share the samples with the poorer of the patients,instead of favorites

In 2004 I moved to Birmingham Inverness area from Florida. I went to several different Doctors here and got discouraged thinking I would never find a Doctor who listens and cares like I had in Florida. My wife called around and found Dr. Black. Thank God she did. I absolutly rate him the highest possible in all areas. He is a soft spoken, attentative, caring, and understanding Doctor who actually values the patients imput of their problems. Most Doctors are convinced they know more about a patients body than the patient does. Dr. Black takes the time to really listen not just act as if he is but actually takes the patients imput in consideration when he decides the best treatment. If you are honest and upfront with him he will do all he can to help you with your problem. I trust him with my life and will tell anyone who asks that he is the best. I was without insurance for a period which made no difference in my care and he helped when he could with medication samples. Excellent!

Dr. Black is a great doctor. He is punctual, courteous, and a very nice man. However, I have had repeated problems with his staff being unorganized and unprofessional. They NEVER call with lab work results, even though they say they'll call you as soon as the results are in. The only way to find out the results is to call them, but it usually takes 2 or 3 voicemails before anyone will return the call. They have lost vials of my blood or labwork orders not once, not twice, but THREE TIMES over the past few years. If you call for a prescription refill, and it's time for you to come in for a re-check, they don't call you back to tell you that you have to come into the office. They simply don't call in the refill, and expect you to know why it hasn't been called in. I've had to wait DAYS sometimes to get a refill called in, with no explanation why it took so long. Getting a nurse to return your call is always a huge hassle.
