I am currently going through the worst post-surgery complications after Dr. Bloomquist has neglected to take proper protocols and followup to make sure my top and bottom jaw surgery is healing correctly. I had my initial surgery in March of 2017 and just had my 4th surgery in July. Please do not go to this surgeon if you are considering any type of dental/facial work!!!!! If you want more details or have had botched work done please email me kalleeknudson@gmail.com

Having a surgery with Dr. Bloomquist back in 2007 was one of the worst decisions I ever made! Besides a small overbite before surgery my face looked great! I had surgery to correct my overbite and it left one side of my face larger than the other side! My face was severely unbalanced. I was completely assymetrical. I mentioned to Dr. Bloomquist and he just brushed it off like it was nothing. He doesn't do good work. I very much regret having orthognathic surgery with this doctor. Please just accept yourself for who you are instead of leaving yourself in the hands of a careless butcher!

In 2008, I had lower jaw surgery performed by Dr. Bloomquist... - did I say "performed"? - I meant "massacred"... His surgery was indeed fast - should I say rushed...? Screws where not properly put in or even forgotten to be tightened... My jaw came crooked and he wouldn't admit it... My ortho did his best, but could not repair the terrible performance of Dr. Bloomquist. I am left with my jaw locking all the time and also getting painful at times, when I open my mouth too wide... After two years of post-op visits, I came to realization that nothing could be done... unless I go through another surgery - which I will not risk.
Dr. Bloomquist is way too rushed... - I hope he is retired by now - he, we, all deserve it.

Spent an entire year getting my teeth ready for surgery, and I was extremely nervous about having jaw surgery. I was assured by other Md's that Dr. Bloomquist was the best. I read some interesting reviews (good and bad). I had jaw surgery in November 2013. Fantastic results, the staff at his office were very friendly, and knowledgeable. Dr. Bloomquist did a fantastic job, and I have no regrets. I'd recommend him to anyone who needed what I had done. He isn't a warm, fuzzy type. He is a surgeon, and does his job well. I didn't care to become friends with him, I needed a surgeon. His staff, the surgery, and his ability surpassed my expectations. I'd highly recommend him. I'm finally finished with post op appointments until after braces come off. Big huge THANK YOU goes out to Dr. Bloomquist and staff.

Dr.Bloomquist pulled out my lower jaw and chin. The work he did was great and even after, when I grinded my teeth at night and messed up his work. He kept seeing me and even did a follow up surgery at no cost at my ortho's request. He is a good man and stuck with me until things had been set right. This went on for months and many visits. I would send my my kids to him. It's been over a year now 8/31/12 thank you Dr.Bloomquist D.O'Orourke

Dr. Bloomquist is truly old school using protractors and clay models. I agree with the comments about his bed side manner. He is dismissive and arrogant. The problem was never being told about an extra $2,000 in fees until the day before surgery that were not covered. He charged me $1,500 for some sort model which never was shown. I was also charged $500 for an unqualified nurse assistant. So after my pre-surgical examine, I was are directed to his finance office, where i was told to write a check for all out-of-pocket expenses. This is pretty extreme but to have an additional $2,000 plied on top of the other fees for outdated and unnecessary practices is pretty cruel. The staff wouldn't even give me the medical codes so that I could address this with my insurance company. SO, IF DECIDE TO USE Bloomquest, TALK TO THE FINANCE DEPARTMENT EARLY AND GET ALL CHARGES AND MEDICAL CODES SO YOU WOULDN'T HAVE THE SURPRISE I HAD. The fees did not qualify for my annual maximum out-of-pocket.

Today marks an anniversary of when my husband had his jaw screwed up by Dr. Bloomquist and his staff. A procedure that was supposed to take 1 1/2 hours took 3 1/2 and come to find out it was because of their own wrong doing. My husband had his impacted wisdom teeth removed. But while numb and once the teeth were removed they put a block in which snapped what was left of his jaw and then left my husband unattended for quite some time came back to a snapped jaw which they then horribly patched back together with a plate and some screws which were never set right. There was only one attendant that was assisting the doc during surgery and she was very rude. The rest of the staff was super nice. Of course everyone became lovely once they realized they had broke his jaw! This doctor is way too rushed, probably has been practicing too long and should not be doing surgery. Turns out we have a colleague who had a similarly terrible experience at her oral surgeons office- turns out - same guy!

Dr. Bllomquist removed my lower (extremely) impacted wisdom teeth, which had to come out before he could perform a bilateral sagittal split osteotomy a few months later. This was serious surgery - I needed a serious surgeon. Dr. Bloomquist is Acting Chair of the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at UW; he teaches top-notch students this stuff. He's not just board-certified, he's been on the board. His bedside manner is cooly scientific; he is definitely not from the touch-feely cosmetic dentistry side of the house. (If you want that, go watch Nip/Tuck and get the drama.) He's got all the whiz-bang computer technology, but doesn't show it off. In the end, it's your jaw, and some (power) tools in his exceptionally skilled hands - if you value your face and want *the* top-notch maxillofacial surgeon in Seattle, Dr. Bloomquist is your guy.

Dr. Bloomquist has been amazing. I had my jaw surgery June 2011 and both him and his office staff have always been more then helpful with any questions/concerns I have had. During my hospital stay more than one nurse stated that people travel from all over the world to have Dr. Bloomquist preform their surgery and the patients all seem to do so much better then patients seen by others. I had some complications with infection after the surgery (completely not the fault of Dr. Bloomquist) that resulted in me making more then a few calls and visits to him in the evening and over weekends (even holiday weekends). Dr. Bloomquist was very caring during the entire thing and kept telling me to pick up the phone and call him if I needed anything. I am just over 6 weeks post op and I can already tell when I am done healing I am going to LOVE the results. I have seen both my orthodontist and dentist since the surgery and they are very impressed with the results.
