Oh...my..God. I am in complete DISGUST over the complete lack of utter respect this specific doctor, DR. JOEL LYM, that I refuse to refer to him as doctor but just Joel. Perhaps "a-hole" is more spitball term. I can't believe the MDC actually licensed him. He really shouldn't't

Like the other reviews here have mentioned, I wish I was in the Santa Clara area instead of Fremont today. I have a history of ear infections, including MRSA, which is a nightmare bacterial infection that is resistant to almost all antibiotics. Apparently, this loser was either (1) too lazy to look into my medical history or (2) doesn't care for the well-being of me or those around me enough to even SEE me.

Sorry, but there's a background story. My ear hurt mildly last weekend and my 1 year old daughter was suffering from a fever and terrible ear infection also. Knowing my medical history and currently on Humira for psoriasis (which by its nature works solely by lowering ability to fight infections). I grew concerned for the safety of my daughter and wanted to make sure I didn't contract MRSA again. So checked into the ERY, in San Jose, the ER doctor said because I wasn't in much pain, I could just make an appointment to see the ENT because they have special equipment that maybe better for me. Perhaps this doctor was too lazy to treat me I mean, I get it I wasn't in a lot of pain.

I am a single mother in law school. I commute two hours to SF and back just to get to class everyday. I was scheduled to see the ENT on Tuesday, but could not make it because my daughter was still sick sick and very fussy, and it turns out my mother, who usually watched her while I'm in class, felt sick too. Poor things ):

So I missed the appointment AND my class that day (each class in law school is like throwing away about $200-300). Anyway, fast-forward to today, I woke up with extreme ear pain and could barely hear. I didn't want to go to the ER but thought maybe I'd get a test to make sure I do not have MRSA again, and possibly just get the antibiotics. But at kaiser, to be seen by the urgent care clinic (not the ER but an after hours appt), I guess you must make an appointment after speaking to an on-call doctor at that SPECIFIC facility. Earlier today, I spoke to a angelic doctor at the Santa Clara facility who told me He could book me something right away. I told him I was without a car and currently in Fremont. He said unfortunately, he couldn't book me the appointment, and I must call back the main line and try to do the same and talk to a doctor over in Fremont. Now, this is when I had to speak to the "oh so mighty"
JOEL LYM...yuck.

As a single mother and in law school full time, my bad, yes, I am on Medicare. That does NOT give you a right to treat me as some lesser human being.

He starts off the convo by trying to tell me to just go get some OTC ear wax loosener to help get it out. I told him I had done this before and it hurt really bad because I have psoriasis in my ear. I asked him, "well would that help me with the pain at least?" And he replied, "uh well obviously I can't predict whether it might make you feel uncomfortable, because of the psoriasis, I mean because there might be some open cuts in your ear."

I replied, "ok..What about the pain? Could I make an appointment with the urgent care in Fremont to get the infection tested or--"

And LITERALLY, out of god-effing NOWHERE, he cuts me off and responded in the most SARCASTIC tone ever, "well, I'm SORRY you missed your appointment. I got nobody that can see you now."

I was in shock, wait this was a dr? I asked, "Wait what did you mean by that? That no one is able to see me right now? I mean my ear is in a lot of pain and --"

And I get cut off, with an equally sarcastic "UH for what you have. Nope. Not at this time. Look, you missed your appointment so whatever you're just going to have to wait it out until Monday. And uh don't go to the ER either. Sorry but that's entirely your fault."

Then I began trying to explain my situation that I wrote above, thinking he may have glossed over my medical history. He then cuts me off (again, really?!) and says, "okay now you're just jumping around all over the place." Without any further inquiry into my medical history or other facts, he continues to rant almost accusing me of wasting h ospital resources.

Not only was I livid , But in praise shock. Emotionally distressed, I was so hurt I began to cry so I hung up. Where was all his hatred coming from? B/c I was on Medicare?

My ear now hurts so bad that I cannot even sleep. My biggest issue is that the question wasn't whether I NEEDED medical attention based on solid FACTS and medical history, but he decided that I didn't DESERVE it, based on his ASSUMPTIONS about my moral character...

I plan to file a complaint with the MDC.
