Dr. Maziar seems to be so unstable that I wouldn't trust him to provide psychiatric services to a stuffed animal. He warmly greets his patients. However, once he closes his office door he turns into someone entirely different. He becomes rude (by constantly interrupting or dozing off), verbally abusive, and condescending. Once, Dr. Maziar left town and told me to call a certain doctor if I had problems while he was out of town. I eventually called the fill-in doc and got the help I needed. When Dr. M. returned, he called and left a very nasty voice mail message accusing me of taking advantage of his colleague in his (Dr. M's) absence. I still have the insane-sounding voice mail message. On another occasion he started yelling at me about not making appointments on a regular basis. When I reminded him that we had agreed that I would come in every 3-4 months for a maintenance check in, he started yelling saying that wasn't often enough. On another occasion, I mispronounced the name of a certain drug by putting the emphasis on the wrong syllable. Dr. M. rudely yelled out the correct pronunciation three times in succession as if his life depended on the corrrect pronunciation of the word. On yet another occasion, he was so rude to my insurance provider that the provider refused to continue trying to obtain information from him. Worst of all, one of my friends somehow managed to send her very emotionally fragile 18 year old daughter to him based on a referral from another physician. When the girl showed up for one of her visits, Dr. Maziar started yelling at the girl about her insurer not paying him. The girl was a minor and was covered under her father's health insurance plan. Being a somewhat sheltered young lady. She knew nothing about her father's health insurance policy and had no money of her own. The girl was so baffled and shaken that she was unable to drive home. In summary, I have had experiences with all kinds of doctors including other mental health professionals. Belive me. Dr. M. is a sick, sadistic, man. Consequently, he is totally ineffective as a mental health professiomal.

Throughout my 6 years of seeing Dr. Maziar he has always been extremely attentive and genuinely concerned for my well being. He has challenged me when needed in an extremely professional and caring manner. He takes very detailed notes and is an excellent listener. I am extremely thankful he is my psychiatrist and would recommend him to anyone.

I have been a patient for a number of years. I first saw him when I was going through a divorce and could not stop crying. He has been enormously helpful to me over the years. He is patient, kind, extremely perceptive, and so intelligent. I started due to anxiety about divorce but continued seeing him as it was so helpful to me in sorting out other serious issues in my life having to do with relationships, and family. He has enabled me to make so many positive changes in my life. If he was not my doctor I would love to have him as a friend. His office staff has changed over the years. I never had any problems as another person claims to have had and I find his staff to be helpful, polite and efficient.
He is just stellar as far as I am concerned, I find it hard to believe that someone could write such a hateful comment about this fine professional. He is a credit to his profession.

Dr. Howard Maziar has had a huge, positive impact on my life. I've been a patient of his for over 10 years and he has helped me enormously with situations that are not going to change, extremely difficult children. We can't divorce our children, right?
I frequently tell Dr. Maziar he is a genius as I am not the person who cried every night in the shower and was in a fog of depression anymore. Yes, my children are still tough, but thanks to Dr. Howard Maziar I have learned to find joy in life again.
Dr. Maziar has always acted with the highest ethical standards. No, Dr. Maziar does not always tell me what I want to hear, but he always acts with his patients' best interest first.
His staff consists of two wonderful ladies who each work part time, Annette and Dinah. The women are both kind and efficient.
Yes, I have recommended Dr. Maziar ' s services to friends who has confided that they need help.
I cannot recommend this fine psychiatrist highly enough!

Dr. Maziar in my opinion has questionable ethics. I am currently a graduate student in the field of Rehabilitation Counseling. I visited Dr. Maziar in regards to my medication and level of anxiety. As I was currently in the process of completing graduate school applications, my anxiety was particularly high. During our sessions he was noticeably distracted and detached. He gave a generic diagnosis that was ill prepared and impersonal. I am an individual that has ADHD. During my time with Dr. Maziar (about a year), I was regularly made felt that I was in some way shape or form an "addict". At one point during my therapy I was told, and I quote, "Now don't go and give your meds out to your friends". This DIRECTLY goes against the therapist/counselor's obligation to "positive regard" meaning: All clients/persons have value or worth. This statement regarded me as a delinquent, as such, the distribution of medication to any persons not prescribed is illegal. Dr. Maziar gave to me three individual 3"x 3" prescriptions to keep for 3 months worth of medication. Anyone diagnosed with ADHD will tell you that such a request in next to impossible. As it would be, one of the "post-it notes" as I will call it, was lost through no fault of my own. (Unbelievably the post-it was lost by my significant other whom I recruited to keep track, an obvious human error). I, his PATIENT, called Dr. Maziar to tell him that the "post-it" was lost. I was then told, and I quote, "I think you have a problem, and are addicted to this medication, I will NOT re-write the prescription and I hope you can find help with your addiction."

Dr. Maziar's actions, when it pertains to me, were extraordinarily unethical and I am debating whether to bring him in front of an ethics board. As a psychiatrist, Dr. Maziar has an obligation to nonmaleficence meaning: not causing physical or emotional harm to an individual. And beneficence, meaning: contributing to the welfare of, or helping others. Neither of which he did. I was labeled an addict, and a delinquent. Dr. Maziar has some serious ethical dilemmas that I assume he is unwilling to face. To see this doctor and partake in counseling with him would be a serious lapse in judgement and could cause serious emotional damage.

Dr. Maziar is unethical and problematic the the field of psychiatry and is on the verge of being brought in front of the Board of Ethics. Any person who values their mental well-being will steer clear of this psychiatric monster.

Dr.Maziar is a wonderful doc. He is very kind, he listens well, and I think he gives helpful advice when you need it. He has a sense of humor that I find to be helpful. I can't imagine him ever being rude or saying an unkind word to his patient. I have seen Dr. Maziar for quite a while and he has always been respectful and professional, and always interested in my well-being. I think he has an excellent front staff, I have always found them to be responsible and courteous. Robbie is no longer there for those that wrote of an issue with him. ( I thought Robbie did an excellent job for Dr. Maziar). I highly recommend Dr. Maziar .

I have been a patient of Dr Maziars for several years now and I have been very pleased with his knowledge, guidance and sevices. I have accomplished so much under his care. He is very competent and his suggestions and questions most enlightening. I have really had a great experience with his office manager, Robby. Robby always handles my appointments, payments, and scheduling with ease. He is always organized, polite and right on top of the situation! I have visited many doctor's offices over many years and this operation is by far the most impressive! I would highly recommend Dr Maziar as a psychiatrist and his staff is exceptional!

I read with disbelief the previous reviews of Dr. Maziar and his staff. Dr. Maziar has been very helpful to me through my rather difficult situation. He has been compassionate, available, and knowledgeable. He has always been professional while maintaing a good sense of humor. His patience and encouragement continue to be reassuring and his competence appreciated. Robby, the office administrator, has been courteous, responsive, and accommodating. He was very helpful in obtaining a prior approval from my insurance company for a prescribed medication. For what it is worth, he is not a family member of Dr. Maziar's (I asked!). I am very grateful for the help I have received from Dr. Maziar and Robby.

I hate to rate Dr. Maziar so lowly. He truly is knowledgeable, but that only matters if you get to see him. His office manager, Robby, is (as others have said) absolutely useless. When I call the office, he never answers and instead I'm forced to use the answering machine, which states that he will return your call within two business days. WRONG! Getting him to ever call you back is a miracle. And a couple of months ago, we received a bill in the mail for appointments I had already paid for. He only takes cash or check, and as I paid with cash, I had no record of having paid. Luckily, after several angry calls from both myself and my parents, they explained that they were "changing their computer system" and that the charges were a mistake. Thank goodness I didn't pay them! My pharmacy even had trouble contacting him. I'm having to find another doctor now, which is incredibly frustrating. It's such a shame that Dr. Maziar doesn't get rid of Robby.

He might have the most worthless assistant I have ever met. Little Robby could hardly speak and acted as if he had no idea why I was there. Poor thing. Dr. Maziar was late, I thought he was about to fall asleep and I really had no connection. The whole experience was rather disappointing and bizarre.
