I've always had an excellent experience with Dr. Horwitz, who I have seen for ten years and I drive two hours to see him.

Probably one of the worst I have seen, he will diagnose you within your first ten minutes and tell you what's wrong with you without understanding your personal history. He made a derogatory remark to me in front of other patients in the lobby area, I don't think any Dr should force you to hug them at the end of a session either. Don't expect any talk therapy at other sessions...just meds.

I have been seeing Dr. Horwitz for three years and have only had excellent experiences and results with him. I find it hard to believe that the recent negative posts are for the same Dr. Horwitz. I have referred several work associates to him and they have all had excellent experiences.

I must echo some of the serious concerns voiced below. He feels he is so knowledgeable that he can diagnose you based on a 5 min interaction. It is impossible to get a return call and have found myself in the position of abruptly discounting medication because I can’t reach them for an appt or Rx renewal. He is clearly not at all interested in his patients and I would agree he seems to be doing a volume business, no better than a street peddler. And I’m sure I researched him but now that I’m looking, I don’t see any psych credentials. Is that legal? If you really need help, avoid this man. There is something quite off about the whole thing.

Dr. Horowitz is the worst psychiatrist I've ever had in twenty years. He is demeaning to his patients. He doesn't listen. Worst of all, he has very little experience in what I have but claims he does.
He does not work with you as a patient or want to know of your progress during the time away with him. When he gave me a medicine he never even explained to me what it does or the side effects. A good psychiatrist works with you on your issues and it's a partnership of trust. A patient on meds should be monitored. Neither he or is assistant everr calls or a receptionist never calls to check on how you're doing on new meds. If you tell him you went off a med and some symptoms appear he'll tell you to just go back on it. I am trying to be fair here, but in my estimation he no better than a drug dealer I have a very hard time believing that this doctors ratings are so high. There is no way other people aren't experiencing what I have.. I wish I had the ability to report him to the medical board or whatever organization licenses him He may be a decent doctor but he shouldn't be practicing unless he's willing to change his methods. I hope by writing this that someone will not have to go through the shoddy treatment that i experienced

Dr. Horwitz was always great to meet with and I never had one bad experience. I was able to keep seeing him when I moved away from Atlanta and he helped me through some tough times over the years. He is polite and professional. He was also very nice to my kids when they were young and had to go with me on occasion. My youngest was 2 and still remembers getting to go to the treasure box there. He is fantastic -really!

He was very cavalier about my depression and made a diagnosis before even talking to me. I had such high hopes from some of his reviews. He doesn't do talk therapy but seems to think his prescribing skills are so expert that he does not even have to do more than observe the way you walk or sit or speak in the short first visit. In my 6 decades of searching for good psychiatrists, I would say give him a try if you have the money or insurance, but don't waste too many visits if you don't get a really good feeling that he's trying to and is able to help.
