Dr. Collins is one of the rudest physicians I have ever encountered. She talks over both patient and mother. When asking my child questions she would forcibly say, "Don't look at your mother!" (Your guess is as good as mine as to why.) She was very insistent that my child was using one specific nasal spray, which was clearly wrong.

Dr. Collins talks down to parents as a matter of course. She or her colleagues have misdiagnosed my daughter on at least 2 occasions, once calling her bronchitis asthma at 18 months, and prescribing steroids, even though I said there was no history of asthma in our family. At 10, Dr. Collins diagnosed my daughter's appendicitis as a gastrointestinal infection. I said she has never had a g.i. infection like this before, but Dr. dismissed my concern. Worse, she never made sure that Hope hospital pediatric surgeons -- Dr. Mueller and Dr. Loeff -- examined my daughter although that is standard protocol. Dr. Collins instead came 2x a day to poke her belly, causing her great pain and never advancing the diagnosis until her appendix burst 36 hours after admittance. Complications set in including sepsis and pneumonia. It wasn't until I asked for a transfer to Children's Memorial Hospital that Dr. Collins became somewhat pleasant. My aughter spent 18 days in hospital that summer.

This doctor may be decent at treating formula-fed babies. However, she is completely unqualified to consult regarding healthy, breastfed babies. She gave me thirty year old advice on breastfeeding - things that could easily have damaged my milk supply had I listened to her. She then told me that if I didn't convince my baby to take a bottle (after I had told her I tried but she vehemently refused it) my marriage would suffer. I switched to another pediatrician in a different practice because if a doctor can't be bothered to keep up with the current infant feeding recommendations, how could I be sure she would keep up with the current treatments for possible diseases?
