Dr. Nacua (Bacalso) is my mother's family doctor for over 15 years. I honestly believe that this physician saved my Mom's life!

I'd like to share the following to justify the 5-star rating above. In the spring of 2015, Mom - who was a very active 83 year old at that time - was rushed to the Emergency Dept. of a ``teaching hospital`` in Scarborough due to severe headache and shortness of breath. It was early evening. At the hospital, the attending physician ordered a series of blood tests the results for which showed NO reason for concern. Her blood pressure however was somewhat elevated; heart rate readings during the course of the evening was low, about 35 to 45. For the headache Tylenol 2 (or 3) was prescribed, which offered no relief. Accordingly, a stronger medication was given (Percocet). This pill worked for the headache and a better BP reading as well. The heart rate reading however was unchanged, i.e. around 40. No test(s) or referral to an on-call physician at the hospital was done for the low and irregular heartbeat. By sunrise, Mom was discharged with instructions to return to the hospital if necessary.
At home Mom's condition did not improve; in fact, it became worse - with elevated high blood pressure, and 25 to 35 pulse rate. Alarmed and terribly worried, I then called and successfully secured an immediate appointment to see Dr. Nacua.

Following a thorough examination, Dr. Nacua knew right away what was wrong with my Mom. Thus, she wasted no time and personally called a cardiologist at a nearby clinic for an appointment. Before 5:00 pm on that same day, Mom was diagnosed with arrhythmia. Not only that, her medical condition also required immediate intervention. Within a week, my Mom received a permanent pacemaker at another Scarborough hospital. She has been well since then and no recurrence of shortness of breath.

No one is perfect and physicians aren`t either; however, there are doctors who are more technically competent and with a superior understanding of disease and treatment than others. In my opinion, Dr. Nacua`s name is very high up on that list.

Doctors Nacua and Andrew and excellent doctors when it comes to knowledge, service and even helpfulness.

However, it is the Filipina RECEPTIONIST that ruins it all. I called for schedule of follow up appointment of a relative visiting, which means we pay per visit to clinic as client doesnt have health card. The receptionist saying she cant do anything to book appointment. I asked until what time clinic is open, she answered in a very annoyed voice saying"why are you asking? I already told you we are fully booked tomorrow". My sister noticed her being unprofessional too when she yelled at one customer for being late saying "you are late!" With a loud "sigh"

The. 2 other receptionist, the regular ones are really nice no matter who they are talking to. Very well trained, professional and helpful.

I think if the filipina RECEPTIONIsT cant be polite or cant anwer simple questions like clinic hours without being rude, this job is not for her. This clinic doesnt deserve her, paying or non paying patienta doesnt need to be treated rudely by people like her.

Dr. Nacua is a little outspoken but she definitely helps us and is knowledgeable when we come to her for our general check-ups and other medical issues.

I've always appreciate a non sense senseless convo. She is to the point. BUT she is always AWAY for months at a time (over 4 months). This is my reason for leaving. Otherwise, shes always took care of me. Maybe, I'm her fave patient.

I feel I must go out of my way to share my experiences with Dr. Judith Nacua with anyone interested in finding out what kind of doctor she is. Of course, this is based on my experiences with her, so take it as it is... nothing but my own sincere opinion of her. I've been seeing her for a couple of years now every now and then for my anxieties and depression. She sent me to a couple of therapists, none of which I found could help me. That's also what these therapists told me. I came in last week with a referral form to another clinic that provides therapy for anxieties and depression. When asking her to fill in the referall form, she gave me attitude questioning if the past therapists weren't of enough help already. I clearly stated that I'm not going to see a therapist that can't help me, to which she rolled her eyes at me as if I was faking my anxieties and depression. She quickly filled in the form (unfinished), and hurriedly kicked me out not even bothering what else I had to say.

I have been a patient of Dr. Nacua for many many years. She is very abrupt and is often quite stressed and it feels like she is taking it out on her patients. I agree with one of the other commenters, she will only see you for one inquiry at a time. There are no grocery lists of problems allowed with this doctor. Flora has since left the office and the new clerk, Sophie is actually very nice. I am currently looking for a new doctor because I just don't think Dr. Nacua is interested in her patients any longer.

Judith Nacua? Does she deserved to be called a doctor. ABSOLUTELY NOT. My family have dealt with many doctors (pediatrician, opthalmologist, dermatologist and etc.) but Judith Nacua is the nothing compared to these doctors. Judith Nacua is very rude,no empathy, very disrespectful, very moody. To ask for a referral letter from her is a big deal.We all have problems in our lives and if Judith Nacua cannot handle the stress in her life then she should retire. And of course annual check up is one thing. She doen't call you and give you updates on you annual check up..... If you are a patient of Judith Nacua... you better think twice and run for your life....

This doctor can be moody. Sometimes she is nice but overall does not have a good attitude to her patients. The staff are not friendly. She is also my friends' family doctor and they don't really like her and complained a lot the way she handles her patient. She should not be in this kind of business. I am searching for another doctor. Once I found a good and better doctor I will certainly stop seeing her.

This Doctor, is very rude and unfriendly. She does not like to be questioned and refused to explain my lab results. As for her Receptionist Flora, she is very rude, inquistive and abrupt. Because of their poor manners and uncaring for people, they have lost a lot of clients.
