Biography
Dr. John Gannage, holding an active medical licence in good standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO), and as a longstanding practitioner of CAM, is considered an expert in the CAM field. He is regularly requested to offer his opinion regarding current standard of care and best practices within his professional domain. He is a Peer Assessor for the CPSO, works on behalf of the Investigations, Resolutions and Complaints Committee, and has acted as Preceptor for fellow physicians as part of the CPSO’s self-regulating governance and education initiatives. His practice has “GP Focused Practice” designation from the Ministry of Health and OMA, which allows Dr. Gannage to provide OHIP services without economic penalty to a rostered patient’s primary care physician for certain conditions and assessments. Dr. John Gannage has special focus in assisting children and families affected by developmental issues, including autism, using biomedical therapy. Still, the majority of his practice is for chronic illness and conditions among adults, for which he has developed specific protocols from a functional medicine perspective. His primary focus is in "Functional Medicine" and nutrition-based therapies; HE ONLY ACCEPTS NEW PATIENTS FOR THIS AREA OF PRACTICE, NOT PRIMARY CARE AND NOT TO BE A GP FOR ANY PATIENT. Dr. John Gannage graduated from University of Toronto medical school in 1990 and completed his residency in Family Medicine at the University of Ottawa. At the University of Toronto he was recognized with the Medical Society Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Faculty of Medicine. He earned Honours in 3 years at University of Toronto in the Faculty of Medicine. Dr. Gannage founded and is currently the Medical Director of Markham Integrative Medicine, where he has been emphasizing prevention and treatment of chronic disease through nutrition, detoxification, immune sysem modulation and reduction of oxidative stress since 1998. In addition, Dr. Gannage has been administering Chelation Therapy since 1999.
