Loved her - she removed my uterine polyp and also helped me decide on BC options - I asked for permanent removal of my tubes, she said to try an IUD first and if it doesn’t work we can move to that. I had a terrible experience with the (publicly funded) Catholic hospital system that wouldn’t allow me to discuss permanent BC, since I have no children, so it’s nice to hear that I can get that done with her without any pushback.

All the negative reviews are true! I wish she had taken my concerns seriously as I ended up in the hospital twice coz of blood pressure issues. She was always rushed, rude and seemed so cold. Worst beside manner. If you are pregnant, please avoid her at all costs.

Having this Dr during my pregnancy was one of th worst experiences of my life especially while being pregnant which can feel like a very vulnerable time., she traumatized me with a membrane sweep - she didn’t explain the process before she started, I was not at all dilated and it was so painful I was screaming at the top of my lungs out of shock and fear while she performed the procedure - to which she replied “I told you not to scream” - all of this while looking at 2 dirty speculums in the sink in the room. I was so traumatized by that experience as her bedside manner was so harsh and dismissive, I didn’t want to have her in the delivery room at my daughter’s birth. She was forcing me to have an induction the day after my due date even though there was nothing about my pregnancy that was considered “at risk” when I asked her why she told me “bad things can happen”. I was so grateful to delay the induction one day to the day I knew she wouldn’t be delivering . I had a wonderful resident Dr at Sinai that delivered my baby in a very supportive way and I am so grateful I didn’t have to see this doctor again.

My heart is forever filled with gratitude & thanks to Dr. Shapiro, Carrie and team for helping me safely bring my son into this world and for taking care of both of us. throughout my delivery. She is a superstar and the VERY best at what she does. I wouldn't trust anyone else to ever deliver my child and wish I had been with her the first time around. From the very bottom of my heart, THANK YOU!

I would not recommend Dr. Shapiro to a pregnant woman or person who values communication and wishes to make informed decisions about their health. Dr. Shapiro was bordering negligence throughout my pregnancy, with a “no news is good news” communications style. Most importantly, when I was about to have the epidural, the anesthesiologist had to stop because I disclosed how I was taking two 81mg Aspirin pills on Dr. Shapiro’s orders, but should have stopped taking them at 36 weeks. She didn’t direct me to stop taking blood thinners so I took them until full term, and it almost cost me an epidural. Finally, Dr. Shapiro never examined me physically, didn’t contact me for a 6-week follow up appointment and also told my partner he was “useless” in her questioning us about family health history (specifically, diabetes). Ultimately, Dr. Shapiro is a poor communicator, arguably negligent and not particularly kind or caring. I suggested to my GP to think twice about referring patients to her.

After a most horrible experience with neglectful midwives during my first pregnancy, I decided to try an OBGYN for my second pregnancy. From day one Dr. Shapiro has been nothing short of incredible. She has been understanding, supportive and compassionate throughout the difficult situation of my husband working through treatment for stage 4 cancer. She is incredibly professional and knowledgable. She is excellent with my three-year-old son. She gives me the opportunity to express any concerns and makes sure I understand what is going on at every turn. She is on top of my treatment. After a discussion about some personal concerns I had with my mental health at this time, she immediately referred me to the prenatal mental health program at Mount Sinai. She has a great sense of humour and style. Her receptionist is top notch, on top of everything and 1000% competent. I would NEVER EVER go back to the previous midwives after my experience with them versus the treatment and care I have had with Dr. Shapiro and her team. NEVER. If you want an experience knowing that you and your baby are in excellent hands and cared for by competent, compassionate, knowledgeable and educated professionals who want what is best for you and your child, you cannot beat Dr. Shapiro.

My wife had mutiple very large fibroids which caused my wife pain, worsening her quality of life and lead to multiple miscarriages and an ectopic pregnancy and she couldn't be bothered. This woman told my wife "I've seen worse" and almost lead to her death.

I felt very fortunate I was referred to Dr. Shapiro. Both she and her assistant Carrie, were excellent to deal with.
Dr. Shapiro has a very calm and friendly demeanour - which I really appreciate. She answered all my questions and I left knowing I was in great hands. All around very positive experience.
