This person does not want to answer questions; he just wants patients to be quiet and let him do whatever. No communication. And when I was forthright and said I wanted to know things, he became upset! Saying, "You don't need to know." HIGHLY pretentious. Misogynist? He thinks he's a god. I found a real physician elsewhere.

Top notch neurosurgeon!! I had surgery with Dr. Sekhar at George Washington University Hospital in 1994. I had a meningeoma that was in the cavernous sinus, wrapped around the internal carotid artery and trigeminal nerve. He was able to perform 3 surgeries to remove the tumor and bypass the internal carotid artery. My eye has never opened, but I see that as a small sacrifice due to the difficulty he faced in resolving the problems. I am very grateful for his medical expertise.

Cary, NC
January 6, 2020.

In 1996 I was a Maryland resident. One day I fainted, I was taken to the hospital, a brain scan was taken, an MRI followed, a basilar aneurysm was detected.

My family consulted a couple of neurosurgeons but none of them was willing to perform the aneurysm repair and one of the them labeled me as "a walking time bomb."

After some serious research, my family "found" Dr. Sekhar who performed the procedure at the Georgetown University Center in Washington D.C.

I will make a long story short by saying: "Do you need ( I hope not) an amazingly caring and extremely knowledgeable neurosurgeon?, go to Dr. Sekhar."

I am 79 years old, I am an older version of Superwoman. I travel, I play with my grandchildren, I am nimble and efficient, I am what I happily was.

I have one regret as I did not foresee the arrival of old age and the ravage wrinkles bring to a face. I should have requested of Dr. Sekhar as he was taking care of the repair, to simultaneously provide a drastic tightening of the facial skin or preemptive plastic surgery (just kidding, of course).

Thank you, Dr. Sekhar, Happy New year, continue to provide your immense skills when needed for many more years to come.

Sincerely,

Emilia Bradley

I was given devastating news in Jan 2015 that I had a large inoperable brain tumor invading the brainstem. My surgeon gently encouraged me to gather my family together. I was given no hope at all. Three days later, I lost more function and was referred to Harborview for evaluation. When I met Dr Sekhar, he asked me if I knew why I was there. I told him I had an inoperable brain tumor. His answer was-WHO TOLD YOU THAT! He did surgery the next day. Yes, I have some deficits. And yes, the tumor is gone. I can live with a droopy face and partial deafness. Dr. Sekhar is a brilliant, caring, and thorough doctor. He is in my prayers every night.

After being informed by another top notch neurosurgeon that my large and complex petroclival meningioma causing brainstem compression was inoperable and that I likely had 5 years, I found Dr. Sekhar. This man is very honest, extremely thorough and amazingly talented. He explained to my extended family and myself the possibility of extreme complications should he perform surgery on me. He said he was capable of doing the surgery but there were definite risks. He spent nearly 2 months running me through a battery of tests to get a baseline on all my bodily functions. On March 4, 2008 I had a 12 hour brain surgery. Yes I did/do have complications that will forever be with me but even now those issues continue to improve. Best of all it has been nearly 7 years and I am enjoying LIFE. Because for some unknown reason my brain continues to grow more tumors (I have 5 at this time) Dr. Sekhar has performed two more surgeries on me, one a 6 hour and one another 12 hour surgery. Neither of these were as complicated as the first and I had no lasting complications from them. Dr. Sekhar is a life saver in my book and I hope he never retires because I do not think God has made a replacement for him yet. Thank you Dr. Sekhar for saving my life.

Dr. Sekhar's skill as a surgeon saved me from a life threatening vascular brain tumor on my brain stem. His compassionate care is equal to his unparalleled talent as a brain surgeon. I believe I am here today to raise my lovely daughters (who were 4 years, 2 years, and newborn at the time of my neurosurgery because he treated me as a patient and was the answer to my many prayers for healing.

My son begins college tomorrow because in 1986, Dr Sekhar removed a malignant paraganglioma from my fiancé, when we were told in Florida that it was inoperable and that she was terminal. God bless Dr. Sekhar. Thank you for giving Heidi and I our life. Dr. Sekhar is a hero. You will be blessed to have him as your surgeon.

Skilled, with a very seemingly uncaring bedside manner. Don't expect warmth and compassion from this doctor.
