Back in 1984, I had the unfortunate accident of severing my middle finger and ring finger on my right hand. Dr. Sparkes was assigned to my case at the Saint John Regional Hospital. (I was 14 at the time) I do not remember him being rude at all, but this mans work is incredible. Where others may have said not much we can do to help, Dr. Sparkes exceeded all. I have full usage of my hand, no draw backs what so ever. HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! Robert R. Gaudet, B.Sc. MCP.

I had broken my nose and was refered to Dr Sparks. He was very detailed as to what he could do to fix my bump. And even sketched out a picture. He had a steady hand and was very confident in his work. However , I am not happy by far with the results. I went back for a follow up and was advised at that time there was nothing he could do for me. My nose is worse now then it was to start!! Not only is it crooked now, its slants on one side, and it goes straight down on the other. I went to see another surgeon, and was given the most upsetting news that it can not be fixed as my cartilige is like cement! I look in the mirror every day and every day I wish I had been refered to someone else. I'm sorry to say, he was not all that he was hyped up to be.

Knows his job, but he has no personality, found him to be very ignorant. seems to take great pride in degrading people

The man is ignorant, he despises anyone who smokes. It's one thing for a doctor to tell you not to smoke, but this man goes way beyond that, to the point that he tries to belittle you. I met a nurse after my visit who said her sister had the exact same experience with Sparkes and ended up walking out. The man's job in my case was to remove a lump, not condemn me for smoking. His office told me they would set up the date for the removal of the lump and would call me.....they never called. I had it removed by another Surgeon in SJ and luckily it turned out to be benign. My concern is for the people that go to see him for lumps and he makes them wait so long (or doesn't treat them at all) that it turns into something more serious, that should have been treated right away. In all honesty, if you are concerned about your health or that of a family member....I'd consider finding another doctor.

Knows his stuff, I'll give him that. But his bed side manner is Terrible. Seems to enjoy making you feel terrible about yourself. Spends 10 minutes diagnosing, and 30 berating you.

I trained under Dr.Sparkes when I was rotating in plastics several years ago. Even tho I probably was one of his worst residents I loved the man! He was awesome. Before being a plastic surgeon, in my opinion, he's an artist. He's also a gentleman and comedian. Nothing but great respect and admiration for the man :)

Had Dr. Sparkes for ulnar nerve transpositioning and his care and mannerism was exceptional, as was his sweet, sweet office staff. Hilarious sense of humor, always in a good mood and discussed my condition, treatments in lamen terms. Also, I seen two other persons who had same surgery, by another doctor, and my scar is much prettier by far lol. My healing time was drastically less than theirs was as well. Not trying to dig the other Dr's, just giving credit where deserved.

Recently had surgery. Dr.Sparkes was excellent as was his administrative assistant Ellen. She keeps the office flowing flawlessly. Dr. Sparkes was to the point, explained everything, and did exactly what he said he would do. He has a great sense of humor, I never took one pain pill. The results are magnificent, too bad he is retiring, we are losing a tremendous doctor. Wish you were staying Dr. Sparkes, but happy retirement. And thanks for the surgery :))

I recently had carpal tunnel surgery on my hand and it was very successful. Dr. Sparkes was so funny and to the point. The surgery itself went smoothly and it was very casual(I only had local anesthetic). They (the doctor and nurses) carried on a conversation with me and I felt very comfortable. I found it really helped to distract me from what he was doing. I plan to return to him to operate on my other hand as well as breast reduction surgery. It is amazing how I can look forward to surgery, knowing that I have a great doctor.

Very dry humour. Very knowledgable. Treats aggressively, so be prepared. Decisions he made were different than others I saw but the decisions made after my accident were good for me.
