My first meeting was horrible. He waljed to the front desk and piinted at me, stated. YOU COME, with his fingers, I did not respond, I seriously had no idea who he was referring to, a second later he addressed in the exact same manner, in a patient waiting room of 6 pkus people.Rude ?.I believe so. No Rn, to talk to vefore visit or address any issues, not a warm bedside mannercat all. Unfortunately the list goes on. If your male, he is friendly and talkative, Female, yoyr a second class Citizen. My 2 children were both incomfortable woth him and both have sonce aquired a new doctor due to his rude behaviour. He never asks how your doing, what can I help with today? If you ask a question he tells you your fine with no direct eye contact at all. I was out on pain management for a brief period, he stated to me, Do you want to become a junkie?, Its easy to see he does not address pain medication with a open mind, to me I felt that was a discrimatory remark. Although his medical knowledge may be on point, he should be made by the College of Physicians to take a course on polite bedside manertisms and showing respect as a profession in the field. Staff was rating a one, you can never get through on phone ever, when you do, one receptionist is beyond rude. If you call the Nurse to inquire about something, your call is not returned. I had pne experience with the nurse where I needed a shot, after waiting a half an hour,I asked at reception if they knew how much longer, they replied, Oh she has not seen you yet?, after another 20 minutes, I was seen, Nurse came in room, never spoke a word, no hello, how are you, just gave me the shot, turned around and walked out. Wow, makes you feel like you did something wrong, not polite or friendly!. I did ask twice to be switched to one of the female Doctors, both times I was informed they were full.

I have been a patient of Dr. Bankay's for almost 20 years and am alive today because he is my doctor. He is one of the most brilliant men I know, and have been so fortunate to come across him.
I can't believe any of the negative comments that i see written here and simply categorize them as people who just like to complain no matter what. Unfortunately, it is the way of the world today. I have never had to wait more than 15 minutes to see Dr. Bankay in all these years and usually it is almost instantaneous. The team prides itself on not over booking but at the same time if you have a medical emergency, Dr. Bankay will ALWAYS make time for you.
I had a co-worker years ago, who didn't have a family physician and was complaining that he just wasn't feeling well. I called the office and explained the situation and Dr. Bankay agreed to see him that day. To make a long story short, Dr. Bankay realized that my friend had a serious heart problem and got him into a specialist immediately. He had open heart surgery and would have been dead if not for Dr. Bankay's excellent diagnosis and attention to detail.
I also had a throat issue were I had lost my voice for awhile and Dr. Bankay gave me some medication, and after a few days called me at home to see if it had improved. When he heard my voice still squeaking he told me to get to McMaster and see this specialist that day. The nurse that was preparing me noticed who my physician was and told me the following story. When her daughter was a baby, she fell and was screaming in pain. She took her to emergency and the physician assigned was Dr. Bankay. The woman said Dr. Bankay spoke very softly to the child to calm her and gently kept rubbing her shoulder until it eventually went back into place and the child stopped screaming. She described Dr. Bankay as an angel.
I was also in the General recently, and the nurse at the time saw that I was a patient of Dr. Bankay and informed me that she had worked with him for years in emergency medicine. You have the best doctor in the city she said. Dr. Bankay is simply a top-notch physician who truly cares for his patients. In all the years that I have visited the office, I have never heard anyone complain. If you are looking for a physician, you simply could not do better that Dr. Bankay. He is truly wonderful as is the entire team. Unlike the complainers, I will add my name.

I saw Dr. Bankay for a year. He is clearly uncomfortable around plus sized women. He never once touched me. Once he did my blood pressure with a disgusted look on his face, from then on he pawned me off on the pharmacist. I saw the pharmacist exclusively. Every chance he got he did something to hurt me. I lost weight for surgery (over 40 lbs) and was proud of myself. When I saw him after he was dismissive of my accomplishment and once again had that look of disgust. A few months later, when I threw my back out at work my fiance gave me one of his pills (something I was on before so thought nothing of it). I didn't think I did anything wrong so I didn't hide it from the pharmacist. Once Bankay found out he kicked me out of his practice and after twelve years of pain management he cut me off cold turkey. A similar situation happened with my friend weeks before (found in a urine test) and was given a second chance told not to do it again. Since then a neighbour told me similar. That he purposely took fentynol from his pain clinic and Banker's prescription. When Bankay found out Bankay did nothing except tell him not to do that again and increased his medication (so much he sells more than half every month. I think the guy he discriminated against in an earlier review and I should get together to sue Bankay.

I had Dr. Bankay as my family doctor since I was a child. Fired him as my doctor this past year. After Bankay saw nothing where there was visually something wrong I sought out another doctor who sent me in to the first available slot for surgery to have multiple growths removed. Also known to prescribe more than the necessary amount of percocet when asked by a patient (direct word of mouth by the patient who requested a refill). It is time Dr. Bankay hangs up his white coat and calls it quits to make room for a younger, more detail-oriented physician.

I was leaving the country for vacation, and called to have a physical. I called the office for an appointment in June, and was told that Dr. Bankay will not be doing physicals until July???
I fired him and sought out another MD. A week later I received a call from the office stating that he would do my physical before July, and when would I like the appointment. Too late by this time. Such a caring MD.

An old school doctor, who not only excellent as a physician, but one of the few left that still cares about people. He is backed up by very knowledgeable nurses, who are also fitted very well in the medical profession. After that it goes down hill all the way to the bottom, by the way patients are treated by the other staff, as more of an inconvenience, as opposed to people with a problem that need help.
