Terrible and condescending. Has no bedside manner and like the other review talks to you like you are an idiot. She is fear based, unsupportive, and appears put out when you ask her any questions about anything. She used the term mental retardation in an extremely rude context. Feel sorry for those babies in the NICU.

My children have been with Dr. Zinkiew for a number of years now, and she has been one of best advocates. I love her sense of humour and how up-front she is. We are lucky to have her!

Dr.Zinkiew has been our paed since newborn. She was the only one to recognize that my little one might have autism during an appointment for an ADHD assessment at 3. & girls are hard generally harder to spot. We were referred to the VICAN program and advocated for during the wait. The knowledge, empathy and will to go to lengths to figure out your child is so important. Thank you!!

Our community is beyond lucky to have such a smart and caring pediatrician. My son has seen her for almost a decade and she has been kind in her approach, wise in treatment decisions and infused a collaborative relationship. Dr zinkiew is one of the BEST, hands down.

She is a terribly condescending dr. Unprofessional in her attire and gave the excuse for leaving patients waiting, of talking to colleagues. Cold, impatient and rude. I will never go to Victoria general again because of her.

My grandson has been under the care of Dr Zinkiew
For many years and she has done absolutely nothing to help my grandson. Maybe she should experience how hard it is for my daughter and Family. Please LISTEN and HELP my grandson. I would never recommend her as a Paediatrician she does not having any empathy

She put my autistic son on meds that made him gain weight. Then when he gained weight she told him he was fat. He was horrified and refused to take anymore medication or to ever see her again. (And he absolutely was not overweight at all!)
In the past, when he was younger, she also told him he would have no friends due to behaviors and medical things out of his control. These are just the tips of the iceberg. She is rude and hurtful to parents needing help AND to children. Stay far far away from this dr!

I pray that people read this review before engaging Dr Zinkiew as your paediatrician for anything related to neurodiversity, Autism or ADHD/ADD. Dr Zinkiew outwardly demonstrates complete lack of knowledge or understanding of presentation of Autism in girls. Quite the opposite she show her complete discrimination and lack of care. She actually referred to the Mill Bay nature school as “a dumping ground for troubled children” when speaking to me about the possible higher population of kids with ADHD or Autism attending there. To be clear I was seeing her because I believed my child to be Autistic. In no way should a neurodiverse CHILD ever be referred to as troubled by someone in the profession of caring for and supporting children as a physician!!!! She basically demanded I put my child on medication for ADD without any of the Surveys/assessment tools that she gave me and my daughters teachers to fill out in any way indicating or supporting a diagnosis of ADD. She was very put out when I repeatedly refused. She refused to refer me to VICAN for autism screening over several appointments. When I pushed for it and provided supporting documentation from my daughters school she relented but then dropped the ball and “forgot to send the referral”. For a year I waited for the assessment call only to find out she never sent the referral. I finally paid out of pocket for a private assessment that confirmed what my daughters OT, SLP, teachers, learning assistant team and us, her parents, knew to be true that she is indeed Autistic. We missed out on the early ASD finding because even though I started the process when my daughter was 4, it took until she was six for her to get an assessment under the “care” of this Dr. Oh and just recently I learned that she has told parents that the Psychologist that did our private Autism assessment (spending upwards of 4 hours Meaningfully and skillfully engaging my child ) is the Dr you go to to get an Autism Diagnosis. He has over 35 years of experience and thoroughly completed the two standardized tests that assess Autism. He never once referred to my child as being troubled or indicated that an Autism diagnosis in anyway meant she was less than which is certainly not the feeling I have ever left Dr Zinkiew office with.

Dr. Zinkiew was helpful in getting an assessment in place through VICAN for my then 51/2 year old child (now 7). Our Pediatrician appointments are every 6 - 12 months at best. How is she supposed to get to know my daughter? She has continually dropped the ball at responding to my phone call and email requests to follow up to our assessment (almost 1 year ago now). I have been chasing her and through her completely rude and un-empathetic receptionist was told, as I was in hysterics over my child's behaviour, that I needed to get another referral from my G.P. and to "just hang up and call mental health, as she herself is not a Doctor". I have asked my G.P. to refer me to another Pediatrician, but he feels since we started our journey with Dr. Zinkiew, that we must stay on course. I am frustrated. If she isn't on vacation or off helping in other parts of the world, then maybe, just mayyyyyyyybe my child will have the opportunity to live her life to her full potential, on medication. But for now. I am dealing with an Extremely high functioning ADHD child who hasn't learned to read or write or has hour-long, violent tantrums multiple times a day. Dr. Zinkiew. You need think long and hard on why you became a pediatrician. Stop spreading yourself so thin and focus on kid in our community who need you to step up and follow through.

Dr. Zinkiew is very invested in finding the root problems. Is willing to try different approaches if it's not working. She cares about parents and what they are going through and treats the child with respect and talks to them on their level to ensure she gets to know how they are feeling/ She is extremely knowledgeable and explains things patiently so that I could get results for my daughter. SO thankful for this amazing pediatrician!!
