Extremely rude, talks to you as if you know nothing, belittles you and your children. Most condescending medical professional I have ever encountered. Gives useless excuses when your child is suffering and she can’t figure it out. See any other doctor but this one.

Dr. Zinkiew is one of the most sincerely compassionate doctors I have ever met. She truly cares about her patients and goes over and above to find out the information she needs to get to the root of the problem. She is extremely knowledgeable and explains things patiently so that I could get results for my daughter. SO thankful for this amazing pediatrician!!

Was rude to our son, rude to my wife, has no bedside manner whatsoever. Not someone I’d recommend anyone bring their kids period.

Very professional and helpful with my 5 year old. She asked us all the right questions and explained so much to us. We felt very heard, understood and informed by her. I am so pleased we got to see her and our visit was well worth the wait!

Extremely condescending. Speaks to you like you're a complete idiot. Will not be going back to see her again.

Narrow minded and directly talks to special needs children like they should know better. Will never work with her again. Never dealt with a dr so judgemental and critical.

Would not ask to be referred to this physician again - from experience, there are better paediatricians in our area.
Ms Zinkiew was not helpful at all, and in the end, only acted as a go between in referring to another person . That took multiple unfruitful appointments with her, however. She ignored reasonable requests by parents.
We ended up getting the most help from someone else, a physician not referred to by Ms Zinkiew.
Also: be aware that she takes on medical students and interns for the VI medical program at Uvic - as honourable as that may seem, the reality is that you may end up in her office for an hour and a half (instead of 10-20 minutes) as she uses your child to teach others, and then spends much time discussing your child with that student, while you are ignored and get to spend your own valuable time waiting.

Dr. Zinkiew is an AMAZING doctor. We were living in Victoria when my 3 year old was referred to her in Millbay for sleep related issues. I will never forget the calm that came over my husband and I the first night my daughter fell asleep after taking melatonin. (We'd tried absolutely everything, had both become very sleep deprived, and started having to miss work because we were up ALL night with her - taking shifts.) A few years later, with Dr. Zinkiew's assistance, the school and counselors she was diagnosed with ADHD. She is absolutely fantastic with my daughter and has always talked to her and asked direct questions of her in order to tailor her treatment to best help her deal with issues she may be experiencing. My daughter is 16 now and we continue to see her for check-ups every six months. Over the years of visiting her she has always showed a genuine interest in our daughter's success and restoring harmony within the family unit. Dr. Zinkiew is always interested in hearing of my daughter's accomplishments, and encourages and supports my daughter to try and help her see her ADHD as a gift with endless oportunities, rather than something negative. I can't say enough good things about her, nor could I ask for better care from a doctor. She feels like family to us, and I can tell by her compassion that she cares about us as much as we care about her. We're very lucky to have such a fantastic specialist in a small town.

AMAZING doctor. And an AMAZING person who is always digging deeper into the issue than most will! My daughter, after presenting a few unusual symptoms, was told by doctor after doctor that there was nothing wrong with her. I was told I was being an overprotective mother. But we know our kids! I took her to Dr. Zinkiew and was met with hope that we would find out what was wrong with her. She did research and took the time to link up the symptoms to an EXTREMELY rare genetic Bone Disease. And sure enough, she was diagnosed with it! Because of her knowledge and care, I was able to get my daughter into a study which has now completely healed her bones! I would recommend her highly! I cannot find a better doctor out there who will work so hard and care so deeply!!

Dr. Zinkiew was in the operating room waiting for my son to be born. She did a full examination on him, and we kept her on as a pediatrician. We liked Dr. Zinkiew but unfortunately she was not available enough for us. Every time I would try and make an appointment or had to fill prescriptions I had to make the appointments so far in advance. When sometimes I felt like my son needed to see her sooner, but she was either away from the office or booked up. I realize Pediatricians are extremely busy, but it didn't make sense to me that I had to wait 3-6 months for my son to see her. She did offer a referal for a new pediatrician that I hope will be more available which I definitely appreciated, Her staff in the office I did not find helpful at all. I was extremely frustrated that when I asked for a TAP form instead of mailing it, I had to go into the office.
