Recently I was in the office for a major reconstruction of one of my teeth. In chatting with Ted, we realized that I had been a patient of his for 42 years. In every instance, I received expert, professional care from Dr. Laver and his wonderful team. Always a great experience - thank you!

My family and I have been going to Dr. Laver for a few years now, and have always had wonderful care from him and the rest of the team in the office. They have always done a great job, and have made us very comfortable during our time there. Our kids started going when they were wee ones and Dr. Laver and his team have been so amazing with the them. Our oldest son has anxiety, but he has never struggled when it comes to going to see Dr. Laver. My Latest visit with Dr. Laver, I had gotten the time wrong for my appointment and ending up missing it, but the kind man that he is gave me a gift card for coffee and said to come back in half an hr :) He stayed late that evening to help me with a problem I was having with a tooth.
I have seen a few dentists over the years before Dr. Laver, and have never felt as comfortable as I do when seeing Dr. Laver and his team. I highly recommend!!

Dr. Laver and his team are absolutely wonderful and I can’t express how much care this team provides for the clients. My partner called his dentist today with a toothache and couldn’t be seen until January (?). I advised him to call Dr. Laver, who fit him in right away and as always, provided relief and his personal contact if needed.
I’d also like to give the biggest shout out to Body, the therapy dog, who assists with providing comfort to us with dental visit anxiety. Highly recommend this team. You will not be let down as a patient.

I saw Dr. Laver as an Emergency Patient today. I do not have a dentist in Victoria; but, after today’s visit, I would very much like to be on Dr. Laver’s list of patients. He is clearly very knowledgeable, and skilled in a wide range of dental services. From the mundane, to the more skilled work of dental implants, and some skin grafting work. I found him to be very pleasant, courteous, and informative. He maintained strict Covid protocols at all times. Overall, I think that he promises to be a First Class dentist, from my first experience today. And gauging from past posts, his staff also get high ratings, so it looks like Dr. Laver warrants *****

I've delayed writing this for quite a while, but after reading similar stories to my own, I feel obligated to also NOT recommend Dr. LAVER to anyone.

Myself, and later my wife and children were patients of Dr. Lavers for probably over 30 years. He is a VERY personable fellow, reminds me of Ned Flanders on the Simpson's and I THOUGHT he was an excellent dentist. He is not!

After numerous billing errors and doing work work without clearing explaining costs up front I made it very clear for him to never to do any work on me again without telling me the cost in advance if it wasn't covered by my dental plan. Despite this, the billing issues continued and for this reason only (initially) I sought out another dentist.

Having gone to Dr. Laver for the past 30 years, I had no idea he wasn't doing his job properly until I went to a different dentist. The first clue came when the new dentist asked me when the last time I saw a dentist was. When I told him it had been less than 6 months, he took a photo of the inside of my mouth and showed me that almost all my molars were so badly damaged by cavities that they were orange where the dentin was visibly showing through. He asked if I had perhaps made an error, or he mis-heard me and asked if perhaps it had been 6 YEARS since I'd last seen a dentist, thinking maybe I was just embarrassed to tell him I hadn't been to a dentist in such a long time. Nope. The new dentist immediately started doing fillings and clean up of years of neglect from Dr. LAVER. The new dentist ended up billing my dental plan $20,000 worth of fillings, all of which were covered by my dental plan, just to fix up the cavities and neglect I had that were apparently very noticeable and visible to any trained dentist. I asked the new dentist if it was possible the damage he was showing me could have happened over the last six months and I was told this would have been noticeable at least 10 years prior, yet Dr. LAVER not once mentioned anything to me. It took 4 sessions with the new dentist of 4 hours + to get everything done. One day I was there for 6 hours there was so much work to do on almost every tooth in my mouth. And yet this and billing issue was not the end of the discoveries about Dr. LAVER's lack of care.

The third HUGE issue was I realized is that I discover I had NEVER had a proper cleaning in Dr. Laver's office. NEVER! My first cleaning at the new dentist was almost an HOUR long, and when I asked about this, they told me that's how long all cleanings take! To put this in perspective, we would often schedule bi-yearly cleanings with Dr. LAVER where my wife and at least one of my children would all go at the same time, so 3 back-to-back appointments. We would all be in and out of there within 30 minutes TOTAL. His "hygienist" would do some light scraping, a minute or so of polishing, then a fluoride rinse and DONE. Literally 10 minutes for each of us. Since leaving Dr. LAVER a couple of years ago now, I now know that proper cleanings are extensive and take about an hour. I never knew! And I bet most of Dr. LAVER's patients to this day don't know this either! I ended up having to report him for what I considered blatant fraud in his lack of proper dentistry and 10 minute cleanings that he was probably billing the dental plan the same as what the 1 hours proper cleanings are. So if you're still a current patient of Dr. LAVER's you'll probably still think a cleaning is 10 minutes and you don't know any better! NORMAL dental cleanings are 45-60 minutes EVERYWHERE else! You've likely been cheated for years!

After discovering all of the above, my entire family, 5 of us never returned to Dr. LAVER and 3 families from my work also left him shortly after, once they heard my story and also thought cleanings were less than 10 minutes as they had never been to a dentist who does them properly. Imagine having orange dentin being exposed on your molars FOR YEARS and a dentist like Dr. LAVER not once mentioning a thing about it!!! It saddens me to my core to even type this out because I always held him in such high regard and he was a great friendly guy, but what a kick in the guts to find out his dentistry was so sub-standard, and in the end it seemed to me that in reality he just got as many people though as fast as he could to bill as much as he could to insurance plans. As another reviewer mentioned, it's time for him to retire, and I'm surprised he hasn't actually lost his license by now!! So sad to have to write this. It's been a few years now and it still hurts my heart when I think about how nice of a person he is/was, yet so shocked at what an utter horrible dentist he was to us for decades!

Dr Laver is a top-notch dentist, one who really cares. Regular care, emergency visits, follow ups, he's been there for me in every one. Knows his stuff, keeps up to date, follows up when needed. I highly recommend him for anyone needing a dentist. And he has a very cool dog.

Dr. Ed Laver has been my dentist for the past 15 years! I’ve never experienced any better dentist that is so knowledgeable of his profession; caring for his patients like his own family! I’m so fortunate to have Dr Laver to be my dentist whom he does such a wonderful job on dentistry by leaving his patients painlessly happy forever!👏💪👍

Dr.Laver is kind, gentle, humorous, communicates every step of the procedure in a reassuring way, and is efficient.
I am thankful he was able to see me on an emergent basis. Thanks to his treatment I can spend the rest of my pregnancy without dental pain or complications.
I would recommend his practice to anyone with anxiety, as his manner is calming and personable.
