My family was one of Dr. Sheila Jacobson's first clients. We met her when she took over the practice from Dr. Howard Zinman nearly 30 years ago and she's been caring for our family ever since. She has always made us feel safe and assured that our children are receiving the best care possible. She has a stellar reputation within the medical community and is also an educator. When our oldest was a regular ay Sick Kids, she would personally check on her by phone and in person. We even had her pager and cell number in case of emergencies, which she could never do now, given how exponentially the practice has grown. But the point is, she GENUINELY CARES for her patients AND their family members. She has advocated for us when we faced issues with the TDSB over our children's placement and resources and when we were wrongfully accused of child abuse, she took it upon herself to call CAS and volunteer as a character witness, informing them of what kind of parents we really were. The investigation was closed and incidentally, it came out that it was a case of discrimination, but that's info for a different type of website. All 5 of my children are adults now and they still sing Dr. J's praises. In fact, we now have a couple of grandchildren and she is their pediatrician to. So that's 2 generations and counting! I've barely begun to scratch the surface of everything she's done for us and that we've witnessed her do for others, but what I can say, is that IF you have the opportunity to have her as your family's pediatrician, or to even to have one of the other pediatrician or other specialists in her practice, jump on it and DON'T LET GO! She's got one salty receptionist and you can expect to hurry up and wait when you go to your appointments, but the good outweighs those by a few metric tonnes!
