I am 12 weeks pregnant and experienced heavy bleeding. My husband and I went to Emergency, waited 4 hours. Once Dr.Barkwell finally came in he say down without assessing me, speaking to me or doing any tests and said "My guess would be that you lost the baby." We ended up going to kentville to see an amazing doctor who took well care of me, did blood tests, urine sample and used a portable ultrasound to ease my mind and confirm that my baby was just fine.

This Dr is rude and only wants to get rid of patients then move on to the next one as quickly as possible. He does on the fly diagnosis, without any testing. I am glad that I have not had to deal with him for my own issues, but have seen first hand 2 diagnosis of family members that were completely wrong, causing much distress and worry in the family

This man is very ignorant. After making 3 trips to emerg for a throat infection, having swabs done two weeks prior, only today was I informed of having strep throat leading to another infection. He didnt even register the current meds I am an on for other issues. He had to look them up as he had never heard of them. This man is susposed to be a long standing doctor? He came in the room strutting like he was the end all saviour. He cares more about his diabetic cat getting it's right dosage of med than the patients before him. That stupid smirk he gives you like your beneath his time. I wouldn't be in emerg again expect for the huge mistake he and his team of idiots made in the very first place. If you are sick and want a through doctors care, drive to Kentville. This doctor is not operating or firing on all cylinders.

He has to be the WORST Dr ever. He’s condescending, arrogant and terrible bedside manners. I over heard him talking about me in the hall saying “she’s obviously not in and distress so I’m going for lunch”. I was very ill that day (couldn’t breath, chest pains, dizzy, unsteady walking etc) and had to insist on a X-ray. He only agreed I think to try and prove me wrong - found out I had a mass in my chest over 15cm. I had surgery 1 month later. If I hadn’t insisted on an X-ray he would have sent me home because he said I was fine and nothing was wrong with me. Again he is the WORST dr.

This man is retired now and does do on call for a couple of medical institutions, he is very rude and looked down at my family and me more than once through emergency situations. It's time he hangs up his coat for good as it is clear he only has the passion to put people down and no passion to deal with sick people.

i was diagnosed by his intern with pneumonia. he wrote a prescription and said there you go. he gave no indications as to what I should do for my home care. And he made a mistake on the prescription. He was more interested in showing off for the intern than talking to me.

I find Dr. Barkwell to be very helpfull and knowledgable. He is there for you when it counts and quick to get some humor in when the situation allows. As a family we have gone through some trying times and he has helped us with sound advice, excellent treatment and good care. He has made a big difference and has gone the extra mile regardless of how busy he is!

Has no bedside manner. Makes you feel like you shouldn't be there if you see him in Outpatients. I like to have a doctor that believes that I have some intelligence and am there to see him because I have a genuine concern.
