My family Doctor referred me to Dr. Laurie McLaughlin. She was very professional and through. She looked over my MRI, and gave me an exam. In the end it was determined that I needed Surgery. I had a herniated L4 and L5 disc. I was in AGONY!! I was then introduced to Dr. Dunlop he went over my medical history, explained the next step in the process... and it is a process! I had to take a ” class” at St. Joseph hospital, in Hamilton, where I learned about my surgery and was fitted for a back support/girdle that I had to wear after my surgery. I also met the nurses and other doctors who would be in with me during my surgery. I really liked this experience as it put all my fears to rest and it gave me the opportunity to ask questions about my surgery.
The day of my surgery I went in at 8 am and WALKED out of the hospital at 2p.m! The care I received at the hospital was unlike any other hospital i had ever been to before. From the nurses, orderlies, to the doctors, I was treated like Gold! I Had to go back for I believe a 2 week and 6 week post pop check up. Dr. Dunlop was pleased with my results. I cannot say enough about how amazing Dr. Dunlop and his team were! It is 3.5 years later and I haven’t looked back! I'm doing very well.
I should mention from the time I was referred to the date of my surgery was 3 months.

I was referred to Laurie McLaughlin by my family doctor. I’m 40 y old and I have herniated disc . I was very sceptical about seeing Laurie because of the reviews but I decided to give her a shot because I was in so much pain and to get to surgeon his was the fastest way .
Laurie was very knowledgable , easy to talk to and took her time to examine my MRI and my back.
She decided I need a surgery but final decision is going to be from surgeon !
This is my experience from
McLaughlin Proactive health group . I’m not rating any of the surgeon!

RE: Laurie McLaughlin. Wasted $150 to listen to a self absorbed condescending woman tell me absolutely nothing and what she did say was not accurate. Not even 15 mins worth of time! LIkely due to not reviewing my mri scans . Don't waste your money or time seeing her! She was rude and be littling. Been living with back issues for the past 17 yrs and I knew more about my issues than her from merely tapping on my spin and some bending and twisting. Be cautious and do your homework. Her claim to be advanced and complete advanced assessments are GROSSLY overrated. I've have many physiotherapist spend more time doing assessments and actually pinpoint my back and neck issues! She did not hesitate to have me go to HER better than all clinics obviously. Even though she made a statement she does not "troll" for clients.

Waste of my time and money. Spent $150 for Dr. McLaughlin to "assess" me. She was late rude and spent more time looking in the mirror then assessing me. After asking basic questions (no history, family history, or medications used) she told me to undress to my undergarments while she was "looking at my file". She did not close the door or leave me with anything to cover myself. The bed she had me sit on was covered with a towel from who knows when. Gone less then 4 mins then returned and asked me to bend this way and that. After which she proceeded to bang on my spine missing where I said the problem was. After this she said I was not a candidate for surgery and I should go to her "friend" who has a clinic in the town I was in because I needed more physiotherapy. When I said I have done physio for years she told me it was not "her therapy". When questioned if she felt it was ok to take prescribed narcotics to make it through the day she said yes. I left very angry. Called my family doctor today to ask if they had sent over my files to Dr.Dunlop's office I was informed no they were not just the request for consult. 15 mins is NOT worth $150 for someone to spend with this person.

I paid $150 for the assessment. They said I'm a candidate for surgery and I will be put on the list. More important to Dr Laurie McLaughlin was to troll me and try to book me in another practice she runs " pro Active health" in oakville $90 for 15 minutes of physical therapy. This was very important to her. Even more then the surgery that she recognizes I desperately needed. Offering to waive the second consultation fee at her other practice because I paid 150 that day. Unsure if she could help or if it was a good idea but wanted my money anyways. This was her main focus. I walked into a money grab sales pitch. She wasn't interested in discussing the surgery and her priorities where selfish. Dr. Laurie McLaughlin takes advantage of the honourable position of changing lives and helping people. She is consumed with greed. Don't believe me ? Step into her sales office and see for yourself

This doctor has retired, I was sent to see Lori who does the evaluations for surgery ($150.00 cost). This is done so you don't have to wait 2 years to see a surgeon. I have an L5 disc herniation effecting S1 nerves to both legs and a Cervical bone spur hitting my spinal column with moderate stenosis. I have been dealing with this for over 5 years and have seen 2 Chiro's, 2 physio's, had acupuncture, basically the works. Lori was cold and unsympathetic, barely listened to what I had to say. I have had walking issues the whole time, balance problems, pain, radiculopathy in shoulder and leg, and weakness on the other side. No gown available except rip-able paper ones, no tissues for upset patients. She said I was not a candidate for surgery although this has been going on for over 5 years, and was very standoffish when asking questions. I recommend waiting and seeing an actual surgeon, this seemed like a money grab to me.

Dr Dunlop did emergency surgery on my right ankle after rolling it on the stairs. I was 35 weeks pregnant at the time. The surgery went very well. I did have a difficult time with recovery the next day but I am very pleased with the results. I have 95% range of motion back in my ankle (in my oppinion / my assesment) It rarely provides me with pain or problems. However 3 years after my inital surgery I did have to go back and have 4 of the 7 screws removed. I still have 3 screws and a plate in my ankle. I am more than please with my surgery Dr Dunlop performed over 5 years ago. I would highly recommend him

Had my surgery in 2010. Continue to have back pain. Can't get a full nights sleep due to spasms. I have permanent nerve damage on my right side. I now have Fibromylgia and can't function most days , because of the pain. Boched, no other word for my experience.
