A nice man who looks like a bespectacled Ben Franklin, he/his office is in bedlam. They chose an out of network hospital to perform a routine colonoscopy that cost me an additional $2000 dollars out of pocket. They didn't accept any responsibility for the whopping, additional cost. Be prepared for 1-2 hour long waits as well, they have no sense of time or how it impacts the patient. In spite of all this, watching 'Ben' in action is very entertaining.

I woke up in middle if and they aborted and sent me for barium. No one came to talk to me afterwards, rather they shoved perscriptions at my daughter telling her nothing and shooed me to exit. Papers ondicated nothing other than to make appt 4 weeks...nothing about what perscriptions were for. Bottles dod not state either. He wont return calls...was finally told by sectetary i had stomach infection..to just go see my primary and tell rhem to seitch me meds he perscribed. Totally frustrated and agitated.

Dr Agarwal is a kind, thorough, and brilliant physician. I had been unable to digest any foods I ate, including water. It just came right back up. I had been vomiting several times a day, loosing weight, couldn't work, nausea and vomiting for months 3 in total. After 4 or 5 trips to the ER for IV hydration I finally made an appointment with a GI specialist . Dr Agarwal advised that I begin a liquid only diet. It took about 4 days on liquids to finally figure out what my body needed to function on liquids only . I had been diagnosed with Gastro-paresis. Paralyzed stomach. Nothing would digest, I continued on liquids until my EGD and Colonoscopy, rested my gut and I am now able to eat small meals , no meat, no vegetable fiber, no salad. I literally lived on smoothies, ice cream and gelato for 2 months. But it worked! It got my stomach working again ! I'm on a strict bowel program, I drink a lot of water, cut the cokes totally. So far so good!

I have been a patient of Dr. Agarwal for the last six years, he has seen me thru my darkest days and back.
Yes, office visits can be long...but, he TAKES THE TIME NEEDED w other the patient before him. VERY knowledgeable and caring. Would not know where I would be without his care and compassion. Very grateful to have him as one of my best and favorite physicians.

Agarwal is patronizing; does not explan WHY change in meds is better; has repeated instructions for conditions I have had my entire life (I wouldn't be alive if I couldn't figure out to "eat slowly, chew well"). Office staff is incompetent; changed appointment 2 times without telling me about change of office site, then moved up my appointment 2 hours only to have me wait for 2 hours and then have another patient taken ahead of me. Really?!?! Oh, and did i menrion that he doesn't return call? Patients are not commodities; they are people. Emily W.1

Dr. Agawal has been my doctor since 2006. He has been fabulous and is one of the few MD's that remembers who you are and your health issues without having to look at your chart. I went to him initially for acute pancreatitis after 15 day hospital stay in CA and he was referred to me by the pancreatic specialist I saw in CA. He has never been less than caring and knowledgeable. When he is with you, you are the only patient he is concerned with. You will wait because he does not rush and his office staff is not great but he is worth the wait.

Dr. Argawal was dismissive and assumptive. I explained I had a very negative experience with unsuccessful sedation at my last colonoscopy/endoscopy, and made it clear I needed him to do it under general anesthesia. He told me "you'll be fine" and proceeded to write me a prescription for Xanax! Now 6 months after my appt(I did not go thru with the colonoscopy he scheduled) I am trying to get my notes and go figure he hasn't completed the office note! I will not go back to this doctor nor will I recommend him to anyone looking for HealthCARE!

I had been suffering from an unknown GI problem which included liver enzyme issues with severe pain for months. Not only was he able to diagnose my past pancreatitus (It took the disease to get better before they EVER figured it out.)but he was able to treat the debilitating illness to the point of recovery. I had a great experience with this Doctor and recommend him to anyone suffering from some mystery disease.

Dr. Vijay P. Agarwal, MD Albuquerque Gastroenterology Associates My PCP did not recommend Agarwal. Said they have trouble getting copies of the reports of Agarwal's findings. Agarwal's facility turned out to be run down and located next to a busy highway. The office did not accept any credit or debit card for the co-pay. Only cash or check. Weird. I was kept waiting for almost 2 hours after the time of my appointment without the staff saying anything to me about the delay. Agarwal scheduled me for a colonoscopy. When I arrived for the colonoscopy at the scheduled time, after having done two days of unpleasant colonoscopy preparation, Agarwal was "out of the country". Agarwal's staff claimed they left a message on my answering machine, cancelling the appointment. They never did. Another doctor said, "this is not the first time this has happened." I ended my patient relationship with Agarwal and was told by no less than 3 health care professionals that doing so was a wise move.
