Wow!! This hack is still practicing medicine?? This doctor is the ultimate WORST Doctor ever!! Sloppy work!! Horrible bedside manner!!! Unskilled!! Rude!!! If this guy is assigned to you, RUN!!! He will butcher you....and not claim the mistake!!! Shameful that this guy is still practicing medicine!!!

Dr. Bernstein just performed an awake craniotomy on me, female 35 years of age, to remove a glioma in the right frontal lobe. I have been out of surgery for approximately 26 hours and feel great! Dr. Bernstein and his team were fantastic! my family and I do not have one complaint. personally Dr. Bernstein was a very caring and comforting man. He has a great sense of humour and is not pushy in any manner! The staff at the Toronto Western hospital were phenominal and they ran a tight ship! Tumour extraction was a success except for a small piece that was left because it was to dangerous to take out. This was explained to me before the surgery that there was a liklihood of some being left. Dr. B came to my bedside several times before and after the surgery and truly cared about my wellbeing. We are so very happy we were referred to Dr. B and would recimmend him and this hospital to anyone.

My father had metastatic lung cancer, with mets to the brain. We were referred to Dr. Bernstein by 'the system'. He said right away that my father must be operated on to remove the front lobe tumor. He took NO time to explain what the implications were going to be, how long this would prolong his life and what quality of life it would give him. The surgery ended up being about 3 hours longer than expected, and when he came out he said they decided on the spot to remove the other tumour as well, from the back lobe. My father lost his memory after this surgery, he was never ever able to speak a coherent sentence, never remembered who my mother was, etc. His life was prolonged by 6 months, during which time he had to be hospitalized as he had become both partially violent and the equivalent of an alzheimer's patient.
We met with Dr. Bernstein at a follow up appointment after the surgery, one month later. We had so many questions: was my father going to be better? will he ever remember anything? was this just a post-surgery phase? Dr. B had a student with him and kept explaining imaging and other technicalities to him, while when my mother and I asked why my father is like this his reply was (and I will not forget this as long as I live) "Well it doesn;t take a rocket scientist to figure everything will be a bit like scrambled eggs in there'.
Needless to say, had we known my father would have never done this surgery. He would have probably lived 2 or 3 months rather than 6, but he would not have been a vegetable. We received no explanation, no prognosis - he was treated just like a specimen for analysis.
I am disgusted by this man; I am bitter and I plead with all you reading this: please stay away from this doctor.

he made me feel really good. He gave me piece of mind. he made me smile and cracked a few jokes. Lovely guy. He was so nice to me as i was afraid.

Dr. B is truely committed to and interested in his profession and helping his patients. He may come off as quirky at first but his sense of humour and intelligence quickly become apparent. Great doctor!

I had a low grade glioma removed four weeks ago by Dr. B and am so very thankful that I had him. I had originally been referred to another Dr. in Hamilton, but a doctor in the family recommended I see Dr.B instead. Dr. B has been on time for all 4 of my appointments. His receptionist Diane is amazingly helpful and fun to deal with. Dr. B, I feel, must be one of the top neurosurgeons in the world. For my surgery, he had a number of surgical residents working with him. One was from England and was very pleased to have the opportunity to be doing a residency with him. Dr. Bernstein is an excellent and very professional communicator. He is patient with questions and answers them clearly and decisively. My recovery has been terrific with minimal swelling and NO complications whatsoever. The incision is healing very well and appears to have no intention of scaring. He is the best doctor I have ever had. If my child ever needed a neurosurgeon in a life/death situation I would insist on Dr. B.

He was 2 hrs behind his schedule so I believe my appt. for a second opinion ( which I waited for 5 month) was quickly assessed to agree with the decision of the first Doctors opinion. Stoma for IBS-C. No thanks, I'm still looking for a professional.

he puhsed my family to have operation for my mother, we found out he even didn't do surgery himself and let his trainees do the operation that didnt work, he never came to see my mother but at very early morning outside her door, overall very unhappy with our care adn how were treated

I love this guy. Was diagnosed INCORRECTLY with an inoperable brain tumor in Niagara Falls and a neurosurgeon in Hamilton. Dr. Bernstein was the only doctor to present another possiblity of it begin a rare form of MS. Guess what? He was bang on. His staff is absolutely fantastic as well. I am very greatful to have seen him.
