I wouldn’t have the amazing life today without her help. She started as my gyro/fertility Dr, later becoming my OB, and the surgeon who eventually did the c-section of my rare mono-amniotic twins at 29 weeks.
Throughout the 5 years we spent with her we found her to be an expert in her field, and I suspect based on the time she spent around the Royal Alex doing a multitude of things, has dedicated her life to her patients.
As for her “bedside manner” in her clinics, she had a to the point personality with minimal small talk during appointments. I would describe her as a genius who is so focused on her work, and with that comes little tolerance for social interactions; which may upset some people perhaps. During the time of her as my OB throughout my 5 week pre-delivery stay at the RH, she was very warm and reassuring, and even took the time to call and check up on us after delivery while the boys were in the NICU.
Bottom line, if you’re looking for someone to stroke your ego, find another Dr., if you’re wanting an expert, Dr. T is it.

It seems to me this doctor is an expect in removing fallopian tubes. She remove both of my tubes in 2017 at the Royal Alex Hospital as part of my fertility treatment and then she referred us to a private clinic where they drained us financially and emotionally. Thanks to Dr. Tartaryn, we have not been able to conceive since then.

When i first started seeing her i thought maybe i would deal with her lack of bedside manner, what was important to me was becoming a mother, so i assumed that her rudeness would not matter as long as she did what i hoped she would, she is the most unkind, intimidating doctor, if she should even be called that, every time i had to go to her office even before getting there i would just burst into tears without even seeing her or hearing what she had to say. Advice for anyone seeing any Dr. seek 2nd, 3rd 4th even 5th opinions if you have to because what is done cannot be undone and i made that mistake with her, she made me think just because she did not know about certain advancements in her field it did not exist , she removed both of my fallopian tubes even though i read fallopian tubes can be cleaned, i even asked about it and she made it seem that it could not be done, i still had hope that ivf would work had 2 rounds with what i was told were near perfect embryos that both failed, then the last time i saw her, the uncompassionate, lacking of empathy woman told me i can't do anything for you, the gut wrenching pain i felt can never be explained. I went on to get further test and found out she left scars in my uterus and didn't let me know. She left me scarred physically and mentally.

It has been over 15 years since I saw her and I have a viceral reaction when I think of my experiences in her small patient rooms. She destroyed a part of me with her aggression, lack of empathy (and kindness, humanity, etc), and overall monstrous treatment. I have never been able to have a pap smear without severe physical reactions and mental trauma all because of her. I was young and didn't know better but if I could go back in time I would report her. She is truly a vile human being and I don't understand why she chose a profession like this. Stay away.

I’ve been seeing Dr. Tataryn since I was a teenager (20+ years). I had ovarian cancer and she assisted me with everything over the years. While she can come off blunt or not very talkative, she has had nothing but compassion and concern for my well being. She tried relentlessly to help me get on the proper hormone replacement therapy, when I had my first exam I cried because I was scared and she was very kind to me and helped me feel more comfortable, and over the years she has just been a good listener and tried to help me with any issues I’ve had. I believe her to be one of the best in her field and won’t see anyone else until she retires.

I saw her almost 40 years ago for infertility issues. She was rude, demeaning and very disrespectful. I was in tears every time I left her office. I was told at the time that she was the best in her field but if I needed someone to hold my hand she was not the one. She performed a very long, complicated surgery that was unsuccessful. I think she viewed me as a failure . When I came for a follow up appointment a week later she told me to get up on the table and she literally pulled down my pants to my ankles, no gown or sheet. I was devastated. After the surgery I developed severe endometriosis growing all over my bowels, bladder and uterus. When I was told that I needed a complete hysterectomy I could not face having her do it. I went to another surgeon that was kind, considerate and very skilled. It has been many years since this happened to me but the trauma of it still lives within me. I really can't think of anything nice to say about her. She is a bitch!

My family and I referred to her as:
Dr. Tatar-ifying! I don’t know how many times that woman made me cry over the years until I finally found another doctor. She had zero bedside manner and should have had her license pulled. She was never on time and then always rushed you out. I found it weird that she always needed to know if I had a boyfriend. She diagnosed my stage 4 endometriosis in my early 20’s. She performed my first surgery. Then she was always too overbooked to get in. So started seeing other doctors but they didn’t specialize in endo. Had 2 more minor surgeries with other doctors. Then needed surgery number 4. She first read old previous tests results telling me I’m fine, then she says oops I read the wrong results and proceeded to tell my hormones levels were not good but It’s probably just polyps?!! She ended up having to perform a very invasive surgery shortly afterwards because it was endometriosis growing all over my bowels, bladder, ureters, ovaries ( had to remove an ovary ) etc. 2 weeks after I was rushed back to the hospital because I was internally bleeding. She never even treated it, it clotted on its own and they just discharged me. While I was there another patient just had a c-section a few hours prior and was going for a walk and bumped into the doctor. The doctor screamed at her for it. I snapped! I sat up and screamed for her to get out of the lady’s way and help her instead of screaming at everybody all the time. The nurses seemed happy someone finally stood up to the dragon lady. I seen doctors and nurses all over Alberta over the years and it seems nobody liked her.

This woman should not be a doctor. She has ZERO bedside manner, very judgmental and has no patience for you to begin with.

I went it for a consultation for a hysterectomy, and she scoffed and came up with excuse after excuse as to why I shouldn't have one. My medical reasoning was enough to warrant, but she just kept telling me that she sees women every day that wish they could have kids, I asked her what her point was, as that's none of my business, and she just said "Well, maybe my partner will do it, but I won't".

My issues were explained and she just looked at me like none of it matter and that I should have just dealt with it for the next 20 years like there was no issues at all.

No one should be made to feel like this - she is an absolute disgrace to the medical field

Horrible manners and with zero compassion. Frankly should have her licence taken away.

I would like to give her a minus 10. This was a few years back but the painful memory is still is very strong. Enough for me to say this years later. She was very rude and sarcastic to me and my husband during our sons delivery. She was rude to staff. Her disparaging and sarcastic attitude to both the patient (me) and the staff was embarrassing to all who witnessed it. She was on call that night so my regular doctor-a wonderful man Dr. Iwaniuk did not attend. She arrived late so my son was already born with the nurses help. On arriving she stormed into the delivery room barking and snarling. She complained about having to miss a tv show she wanted to see and was very rough with my newborn son. When she left the delivery room for a moment my husband asked the staff if she was always that rude and they quietly said yes.
Additionally by circumstance my sister in law also had her daughter delivered by Dr. Tataryn (this was all at the University hospital) and I quote my sister in law, “she yelled at the nurse holding the baby and grabbed her out of the nurses hands and then nearly dropped her on the floor and only was able to save her by pinning her against the stretcher to stop her hitting the floor”.
The woman is a butcher and has a very hateful attitude.
Is she still practising? Is she still allowed to practise? Oh my.
