Ive seen Dr. Bala for 5 plus years now. At first he ran some tests and prescribed Humira for my crohns. After scoped the crohns had improved he said Humira helped it. However I still was in a great deal of pain and he basically blamed it on anxiety and stress. I wouldn't have as much stress if I wasn't in so much pain!
I have seen psycologists and tried so many medications I lost count. Many made me sicker and had awful side effects. He did not listen to how I was feeling. All he cared about was that the crohns looked better and that I should be feeling fine. Its like he didn't believe me or blamed my pain medication for the pain. If I didn't have the pain medication prescribed from my GP I would have NO quality of life at all. He basically told me he couldn't do anything for me. In my opinion he didn't try very hard to see what was going on and took an easy way out.
It was almost like he didn't believe I still had pain and I was just taking pain meds for the fun of it. I have suffered for YEARS with this pain. My family has suffered too and I am very disappointed with Dr. Bala at this point. Will be finding a new doctor for sure. I have suffered so severely these last years I wish I would have found a new GI. Luckily my new GP is amazing and actually listens to me. now if I could find a GI with some compassion and who could listen like that too I would be grateful!

I like Dr Bala on a personal level. He seems like a genuine guy. But what I didn't like about him is that he is a pill pusher. When my UC flared up, he just kept prescribing me steroid pills... and when I went on a long holiday he told me to take triple the dosage! No joke. I wish he would have at least told me of the side effects because I started getting depressed shortly after taking them in the high dosage. Basically you could say my whole trip was ruined. I couldn't focus, I was having problems with memory. I started seeing an accupuncturist before my trip as well and it actually stopped the bleeding after the second visit whereas I had already been taking the prednisone for a couple months and nothing was happening. Dr Bala said it was probably a mix of both and to still take them. I wish I never had, was not worth the psychological affects. I am now taking another drug with a new doctor that is working well for me and its not a steroid!

I am VERY disappointed with Dr. Bala. He is the most demeaning and unprofessional doctor I have ever seen. He disregarded my symptoms, inferred that I was lying and had predetermined my diagnosis without conducting any tests. (I was diagnosed with very serious gastrointestinal problems by other specialists before I ever saw Dr. Bala.) If you can avoid having this man as your doctor, do it, as his cavalier and disrespectful attitude will make your life more stressful than you need.

I have been seeing Dr.Bala now for 8 years. I had seen 2 GPs that said that there was nothing wrong with me that I was too young to have anything. I then saw a new GP who got me in to see Dr. Bala in two weeks. Dr. Bala was very helpful in answering my questions and explained things to me in a manner for me to understand. In the past 8 years, any questions that I make to the office regarding how I am feeling either he calls me back or his receptionist calls me back within 48hrs. I always feel that he has my best interests at heart!!

I saw Dr Bala at the recommendation of a friend. He is a very kind doctor who is uptodate with treatments/tests. He always gives me chance to ask questions and makes sure i understand the plan. Highly recommended, but he does have long waiting list.

If your problem cannot be fixed with a few simple medications then do not bother seeing Dr. Bala. Instead of investigating the source of my medical problems Dr. Bala perscribed me medications after seeing me for two minutes. When these only made my problems worse his assumption was that i did not have GI problems - after all i was only 21 years of age. He spent an incredibly short amount of time discussing my medical history and symptoms. I switched doctors and finally got the help i needed.
