This Dr was fantastic and I miss him .He retired now. I now he will be missed by many.

Dr Kastrukoff has been my doctor for 20 years. He diagnosed me with probable MS and later definite MS. Two previous neurologists that I had seen diagnosed me with anxiety because my symptoms were invisible. I told them I didn't have any anxiety and that didn't seem to matter. All doctors should know that there are numerous illnesses that occur at a young age that have invisible symptoms. It isn't scientific to diagnose anxiety when there's no evidence for this. The only scientific thing to do would be to say, " I don't know what's wrong with you." Dr Kastrukoff was the first person who was smart enough to believe me and what I had to say about my own body, which I live in 24 hours a day and seven days a week. He should not be outstanding for this reason, but he was ...and in every way above and beyond that with his knowledge and caring. A true caregiver, a gentlemen and a real doctor.
I think that doctors who dismiss people with complaints that cannot be seen or weighed or measured, as being personal weakness, stress, or fake, should receive discipline from the college of physicians if and ever, the patient gets the proper diagnosis. A letter of apology to the patient would also be in order.
Dr Kastrukoff is retiring and I will miss him very much. He made a big difference in my life.

I love this Doctor! He is very kind! He is very knowledgable! He is very thorough! Dr. Kastrukoff is a gem of knowledge & compassion in a field where unfortunately I have seen some who were the exact opposite! He made a diagnosis in my case, that others could not, and today he sticks to that, inspite of some who still choose to disagree! He does this in a way that is not disrespectable, but is vey reassuring! How I wish other doctors would listen and learn from his approach! You are in very capable hands under his care! Yes, you may wait for awhile! It is well worth the wait!

I agree with the last comment in that the punctuality rating is irrelevant when considering the level of care and ultimate professionalism we, as patients, receive from this exceptional neurologist. Bring a book, chat with people in the waiting room . . . and consider yourself to be one of the truly lucky people in BC who has this man as part of their care team. Kind, caring, knowledgeable, curious, respectful, thorough, reliable. . . such a relief after the abuse and neglect I received from so many other medical people.

I have never met a doctor like Dr Kastrukoff. He is kind, caring and thorough beyond belief. Like others who have commented here, I found my way to him having been treated poorly by other neurologists. He has patiently followed every angle of my MS before narrowing down a diagnosis that makes total sense bur no one else could see. The excellent rating for punctuality is based on this. He will be late, he's always late, but once you see him you get his full attention for as long as you need it. I once sat in the waiting room with three other patients. He was running at least an hour. All of us commented that none of us complained because we knew we would receive his full care, attention and extensive knowledge.

Dr. Kastrukoff had to do a lot of extra work that my previous neurologist of 15 months didn't bother to do and helped me by diagnosing the cause of my trigeminal neuralgia from lesions in my brainstem. He helped me to get a surgical procedure (rhizotomy) to take me out of pain so that I could eat and talk again. He made the diagnosis of MS and we are now taking steps to assess further with complete MRI of brain and spine to explore treatment and management. He takes his time and I have never felt rushed out of his office. The last time I was there, I was the one to close the meeting after he had answered all my questions. I am in good hands now and so grateful for his kindness and professionalism.

Great caring, knowledgeable doctor. Extremely busy, but takes time to listen. Very patient even when tired, patient overloaded and late in the day. I feel like I may have a chance to live as I was going down and my symptoms were not taken seriously. (a Rarer, more aggressive disease). Got me in for treatment right away. Like a lifeline.

Dr. Kastrukoff has been my neurologist since I was first diagnosed with MS around 20 years ago. He is soft-spoken with a very comforting and kind manner. He is also direct and will provide you with all the information you need and more. There have been many times I have come with questions about new treatments I've heard about, and he always listens respectfully and then gives his approach and thinking. He does a lot of research and attends many conferences, so he is up-to-date on all recent and ongoing research, trials, medications, etc. I cannot imagine having a better neurologist than him. He is the example of what doctors/specialists should be.

This Doctor was the first one after four years suffering from unusual neurological symptoms, who has listened to me. He was extremelly nice, helpful, calm, and smart about every questions, and every answer he gave me. Finally I feel that I have arrived to the place I was looking for, I have found a knowledgable person, who will take care of me. I am absolutelly looking forward to my next appointment with him, and I know, that even if I have something uncureable(what he has finally diagnosed)I will be in good hands. Thank you Doctor!
