Nearly 3 years after my symptoms began "in earnest", I was finally referred to ENT and in Fall 2018 underwent the relevant tests i.e. ECoG and ENG. Both tests were abnormal (especially the former- significant bilateral cochlear hydrops). MRI was negative for 'neuroma etc. To this date, I don't have a firm diagnosis of any kind, despite clearly meeting ICD-10 criteria for Meniere's disease [M.Dx.]. He seems fixated on nystagmus being an absolute criteria for diagnosing M.Dx., but I find no support [PubMed, etc], published by others OR (more importantly) by himself for this claim. I DO likely also have BPPV [not uncommon], of which nystagmus IS a symptom. Don't waste your time with this 'doctor'.

Don't waste your time with this guy. He doesn't seem to care at all about his patients and he barely let's you get a word in before he cuts you off. He has a very poor attitude and likes to talk to you as if you're an easily confused toddler. On top of that, he doesn't seem to keep up with recent research related to his field and may not, in fact, have ever read a research journal at all since he is only interested in "the most common cause" of what is ailing you and is either too arrogant or too ignorant to consider any other probable causes and related factors. Overall, he's a poor excuse for a physician. I was able to do a little research, make a probable diagnosis for myself and have it confirmed and treated by two other (much better) professionals, but only after wasting unnecessary time in his office.

Performed unnecessary surgery on my ear which permanately took away my ability to taste food & made my hearing worse. Other specialists considered surgery for my condition unnecessary & cannot help me.

After feeling extremely dizzy for 3 months, visits to three other Drs. trying 4 different meds, I was finally referred to the Mich. Ear. Inst. & Dr. Sargent. I had already filled out the 9 (NINE) pages of history required by his office before I arrived. All he did was ask me about 6 questions that were answered in the history if he had bothered to look at it. He ordered a few blood tests that were all very common & routine & said to come back in 1 month. This just adds another month to my being unable to drive or to function normally, as there are many days I cannot even stand up without falling over if there is nothing to hold on to. I am very frustrated by his lack of helpfulness. I do not recommend him .

He was wonderful with my daughter! He made sure that she and us both understood what was going to happen before, during, and after her procedure. He went the extra mile to make sure my daughter was comfortable and well taken care of!

Extremely poor bedside manner. Spent about three mins in the room with me for a vertigo problem I have been suffering with for months. Did not explain anything and moved on to the next patient like he could care less. Would not recommend him to anyone.

I had vertigo for 6 yrs. I recently found out I have Meneire's disease. My ear nose & throat doc referred me to Dr. Sargent. My husband came with me to my 3 visits. He did tests. On the second visit, he explained my surgery & gave me a pamplet w/ a YouTube link he made describing the surgery. We would talk about surgery in the next visit. We did & scheduled surgery date. I had a pre-op test today on Wednesday. I couldn't do one test because it would cause symptoms. On 1 of my visits they forgot to do another hearing test. It was lunchtime & the tech was rude & only did the test for 10 mins. The doc had another one done & it had different results. According to them my hearing was normal & now is canceling my surgery 2 days ahead of time. I have severe vertigo attacks. They last 5 days. He was my only hope to get rid of the symptoms. Now I have to get a different doctor to help. Plus, my husband & I didn't like his bedside manner. Rude @ times. I'm glad I didn't let him drill in my head.

I've have had persistent vertigo for years and even been hospitalized with it twice. Other ENTs said "some people just have this." Dr Sargent diagnosed my problem on the first visit and I have felt great since his treatment.
