I have had severe breathing issues that resulted in the inability to sleep eight hours of sound sleep. I am a veteran and had surgery twice on my nose at the VA Hospital, and each time the situation got worse and was effecting everything in my life and the quality of life in all aspects of my life. Luckily I was referred Dr. Friedman via a community program and he, and his amazing team and all of the staff at UPenn did an impeccable job and while doing everything in a smooth, seamless process from intake to final follow up. Thank you Dr. Friedman and all involved for rescuing me from that horrible situation.

Worst outcome ever!!!
After dr friedman performed surgery on 10/26/22 on my nose, it is evident that’s a pretty bad nose job caused my right nostril to become smaller and stuffed with tissues and scars that prevented air to come out and prevented my finger from reach in to the nostril (can’t imagine this for the rest of my life that I can’t even pick my nose anymore!), this kind of botched job wasn’t disclosed or mentioned prior to the surgery and if he did I would have opted out for this procedure and Also caused my speech to sound it nasal.

I had an absolutely fantastic experience with Dr. Friedman. He went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable and confident with the procedure and throughout every step of the process. The results are even better than I hoped for! Dr. Friedman has given me confidence along with a nose that is equally functional and flattering.

Dr. Friedman did an amazing job with my rhinoseptoplasty and nasal perforation repair! They were so incredible at Penn Medicine I’m switching my whole care team to Penn Medicine. They are wonderful people including Megan (his NP) and they genuinely care about improving your quality of life.

Dr. Friedman was one of the best doctors I’ve ever encountered in my experience. I had a pretty severe perforation in my septum, and also a lot of blockage in my nasal airways preventing me from breathing properly. I put the surgery off for years because of how nervous I was, but I knew he would be able to help me after having two consults to discuss all my concerns. It was not an easy fix, but Dr. Friedman did a fantastic job at caring for my needs. He went above & beyond to answer my questions before surgery, and his entire team always made sure I was taken care of. He is the epitome of what you want in a doctor. Someone who is an expert in their craft, but also a caring individual who understands exactly how to communicate with his patients to make them feel comfortable. Being able to breathe again through both my nostrils has been a dream come true for me that I never thought would be possible again. Thank you Dr. Friedman & your incredibly kind staff.

What I want in a doctor — what I think we all want in a doctor — is hard to search for. Yes, expertise is important (and Dr. Friedman is certainly an expert — he did phenomenal work correcting my crooked, constricted nose!), but I also look for providers with a human touch.

That’s where Dr. Friedman comes in. From day one, I always had his complete focus. I never felt rushed, no matter how many questions I had about my treatment and recovery. Even the questions I knew were ill-informed or silly, he very kindly answered them all, without judgment, in language that was clear and helpful. His skill — not only in medicine but also in providing patient, thoughtful care — gave me a world of confidence as I entered the operating room knowing I was in good hands.

And best of all, for the first time in my life, I know what it feels like to breathe.

Gentle, compassionate, intelligent, skilled, calm: fitting adjectives that don't even begin to describe the constant professional that is Dr. Friedman.

I was incredibly anxious when I first met him over a year ago, nervous to discuss revision rhinoplasty.
My previous surgeon from a different practice left me with collapsed nasal valves, a crooked nose, a septum that was obstructing my breathing, and I had to endure months of physical therapy because of a complication during surgery. I was scared to trust again. Dr. Friedman recognized my anxieties and serious traumas from my previous surgery and assured me this time would be different; I can proudly say that he was more than correct! My revision rhinoplasty with Dr. Friedman was the best decision I ever made! He has a gentle hand and I had barely have any swelling or bruising post-op!!! I had a very tricky nose, and I am amazed by his skill and the outcome.

It would be remiss of me to not mention this anecdote: A few days post-op I was nervous because I struggled with rinsing a few crusted pieces from my nose since I was scared to touch my nose and ruin his beautiful work! I called his office to discuss what I should do and, to my surprise, the nurse told me to come in to meet with Dr. Friedman that day, in between his surgeries, so he could help clear the pathways and ease my mind. He ended up talking with me for what must have been his entire lunch break in between surgeries, and gave me advice on how to handle my anxieties and previous traumas. We had a long talk on a personal level about my mental health and I walked out of the office feeling at ease, heard and understood. Overall, my nose is straighter, I am breathing 10X better, and I feel SO genuinely happy.

There is no one like Dr. Friedman, he is in a class of his own! A sincere person who really wants what is best for his patients. I am so pleased with his work and I thank him for restoring my trust again in doctors. I highly recommend him to anyone who is nervous and anxious about undergoing surgery, especially revision patients who have suffered trauma; he is reassuring and trustworthy. Thank you, Dr. Friedman! You are the BEST!!!!

Update 12-2021: He could see after a few months that clearly multiple things were detrimental to my ability to breath, on top of having asthma. He did surgery 10-2020, widened my nose so I can breathe finally, and didnt force drugs on me. I have multiple allergies to medications, and I stay away from nasal sprays and pain pills as much as possible. 09-2020: For years I was mistreated by another ent doctor. They withheld proper diagnoses, and forced drugs in me repeatedly, even though they were making me feel worse and worse. I begged for surgery, and they flat out refused. When I met Dr Friedman I couldn't breathe at all. I had many sleepless nights waking up not being able to breath. After a few months as his patient, he could clearly see that I had several things wrong with my sinuses. I still have some problems breathing, but it's not nearly as bad as it was before. I would recommend coming to this doctor. The nurses are also very kind and attentive in this office, which is a bonus

Dr. Friedman is an excellent surgeon. Wonderful bedside manner. Highly recommend Dr. Friedman! He performed surgery on her broken nose and deviated septum. My daughter is breathing so well now, her TMJ is so much better, and her broken nose is fixed and looks perfect. He is also so kind, even making sure she was totally at ease. What an excellent experience!

I went to Dr. Friedman to fix my deviated septum and for a rhinoplasty. I had already consulted with him three times and was finally ready to do the surgery. He was so kind and put me at ease that everything would go smoothly. Over three months later and I love the results!! I'm more confident than ever, but I still feel fully like myself! And best yet, I can finally breathe!! I would recommend Dr. Friedman to anyone who wanted to do either of those procedures. Thank you, Dr. Friedman!!!
