While Dr. Langleben May sometimes appear gruff he is quite funny and I have gotten used to, and enjoy his manner. He has hundreds of patients so be prepared when you see him with questions and do not expect to be there for an hour. He very accurately diagnosed my rare cancer and was right on target with his treatment plan. Any cancer patient needs to be pro-active in addressing their own health and treatment. I am also very happy with his staff and the nurses who took care of me during treatment.

The first consultation was awful and yet the patient continued with Dr. Langleben because we were told by other staff at the hospital that he was gruff but "the best." He was anything but the best.

He did not respect the principle of informed consent. He filled out the consent form for the patient, instructing her what to agree to if she wanted to try to live a little longer. He played on her desire not to die at the moment when she first learned she had very advanced cancer, coaching her to agree to his approach. He did not allow any time for the patient to process information and ask questions. When she did ask questions at subsequent appointments, he was dismissive and rude. He treated her as if she were ignorant and unable to understand or even be curious about her cancer and the treatments we was pushing.

He was more than culturally insensitive and condescending; he was oppressive. He berated the patient frequently for petty reasons, such as on one occasion when she didn't remember where she put a form and took several moments to retrieve it from a folder in her purse. She was going through chemotherapy at the time and heavily medicated.

He asked the patient and her family to purchase "unpronounceable Scotch" as a gift for him at the first consultation and subsequently on numerous occasions. This was always highly stressful for the patient who worried she might not receive proper care if he didn't receive enough gifts or the correct Scotch.

He coached the patient to lie to the tumour board regarding how she was doing so that they would approve the aggressive and experimental immunotherapy protocol he was pushing. She was struggling to walk and not tolerating the treatments, and he told her not to tell the tumour board. He instructed her to tell the tumour board that she was doing better than she was so that the treatments could continue.

He made the patient fully undress from the waist up with no gown provided for every outpatient exam even when it was physically difficult for her to do so and even when there was no reason. He didn't examine her in any way that required undress on most occasions during what were typically very perfunctory 2-minute exams followed by equally brief and perfunctory consultations in his office. The patient felt degraded by being made to undress even when there was obviously no reason to do so.

It became clear that Dr. Langleben's approach was making the patient's end of life worse, and so the patient requested a second opinion. Dr. Langleben said he would arrange one. He never did.

Because of Dr. Langleben, the end of the patient's life was much worse in every respect and even shorter than had she been able to die at home or in hospice with palliative care only. As far as the patient's family and friends are concerned, Dr. Langleben is a monster.

No respect for people's time. Not even apologetic for it. Apt at 9h20, he arrived to the office at 10h15. I'm not even the first patient, other ppl were waiting as well. So prepare to wait a good 2hrs to be seen. Told him i had already done a blood test recently, didn't bother looking at it. Sent me for a new one. You talk, he doesn't listen. Very rude and dissmissive. It's sad that we're stuck and it is what it is. Wait time is 2 years before you get another a different doc. Basically, you die before any action is taken. Faulty health system. Sad sad world we live in.

Arrogant, ignorant, extremely rude. Zero compassion. I don’t understand how medical doctor can be like that, but oncologist treating b cancer patients behaving like that - it’s absolutely not acceptable. Doesn’t bother to open computer and check test results. Doing nothing in terms of treatment. Dismissing any questions. His decisions and lack of treatment plan means life or death for some of his patients. Should not be allowed to practice medicine.

I do my mammogram every year and when came for my appointment he does not see the results or give any blood test results and he didn’t do the proper exam of my breasts. I feel scared and falling through cracks. Why I should see him if doe not do proper exams? I am scared to go back to him.

Dr Langleben is a great doctor are really takes good care of his patients. Unlike other specialist I've seen who will rarely do frequest follow ups unless absolutely needed, Dr Langleben ll schedule follow ups just to make sure everything is still good. He is also very knowledgeable and answered all my questions. Highly reccomend.

Don't be so quick to dismiss your patients. My CRP was through the roof and he said "there's nothing wrong with you or your neck, drink some chai tea".

A year later, I'm diagnosed with cervical spondylosis. A year ago, I probably didn't half half that was going on in my neck as I do now (who knows?) there's also joint damage (bone spurs) in several places, facet osteoarthritis the works. He also never told me my results a lot of the time, so I had to ask for paper copies from his secretary.

First visit he was okay, decent. Second not too bad, but when he gets more comfortable with you he lets his true colors show. Why not try sending patients for MRIs instead of CTs for deeper exploration? after I got mine finally this year, this is what it showed.

They would have found the problem and he could have referred me to an orthopedic specialist. The C6/C7 levels are the worst of it--thanks for pretty much accusing me I was faking it, and not addressing the cyst on my pericardium either.

Please retire. Your empathy is gone, you clearly don't care about your patients. You certainly didn't care about me.
