Very friendly which is great if you want a personable doctor; however, it also greatly increases your wait time. Space your patients further apart so that you can talk to them AND not inconvenience the next patients. Had a few issues re: prescriptions that worsened a condition but admittedly, he does not have a crystal ball. You do have to be persistent if you want the health care you need.

Prepare to wait at least two to three hours in the waiting room before your appointment. If you are elderly or have chronic disease select another doctor for your own safety. He has been wrong on two family members diagnosis. One resulted in terminal cancer; the patient could have been saved if properly diagnosed.

Dr Wong was my Doctor 8 years ago until I moved out of Province. I recently moved back and although he is very busy he still agreed to take me back which is great. There is such a shortage of Doctors here that I'm happy to have him. No he's not perfect as very few Doctor's are. I personally do a lot of research myself of my conditions and find that you have to know what it is exactly that you need and make sure that you ARE understood and don't give up. For the majority of my problems I seek alternative care IE: Chinese Medicine-Acupunture as Western medicine is lacking in knowledge of internal medicine. I only find it useful for simple and obvious health issues, such as broken bones, infection etc.

Dr. Wong was our family doctor but left three years ago after he miss diagnosed my daughter with Phnomonia and she really suffered for two weeks. Kept saying it was a cold. Also my husband was missdiagnosed with type 2 diabetes instead of type one, very dangerous. I wouldnt recommend him at all. Tries to be very personable but I think that is what keeps his waiting time behind. I think he does care but doesnt know what he is doing.

I have a serious doubt about this man as Doctor, as I am new to Calgary no choice but to go walk in and on Saturdays this man is in Deer valley medical clinic. First visit for an hand injury to my wife he gave her antibiotics, she had that for 20 days and no change so went for second opinion and the other doctor was totally surprised about the antibiotics and than we had X ray and physio and that helped. Very recently I took my 2 year old daughter for fever and infected year. The guy just said it is wax and let it go though the liquid coming out was making it very clear. Very next day we went to second opinion and the other doctor confirmed infection. I am looking for sources to report to some authority about this walking danger to society.

Front desk staff are very poor, have canceled appointments without notifying me. He does seem to heavily over book in an effort to make money. The waiting room times are very very long. Generally about an extra 45 minutes to an hour past your appointment time. Referred me to a specialist that was shutting down her practice and not taking new patients, then didn't give me another referral. Has tried to help with conditions but has become very rushed and doesn't take the time he used to. If Alberta's health care system wasn't so poor I would be looking for another GP.

When Dr. Verbeek retired and Dr. Wong came along things seemed fine. Until a year or so down the road. My mom went in to get her yearly flu shot, he told her she doesnt need one she'll be fine and carried on his day. Well thanks to that she landed in the hospital nearly on oxygen for the rest of her life due to the FLU! I know the shot doesnt prevent the flu but it would have helped her from getting so sick. She needed a disability card for parking cause her hips are slow disintegrating along with her lower back, he said she was fine, until the day he saw her x-rays and realized how bad they were(6 months later). I am going to get a second opinion for her back as I think he's a QUACK! He says there is nothing they can do, she'll have to live in pain the rest of her life! Who wants that...we'll see what the SPECIALIST has to say. I don't recommend him at all.

Dr. Wong took over Dr. verbeek's practice when Dr. Verbeek retired. Who could ever take the place of Dr. Verbeek? No one. He was one of a kind, and he cared enough for his patients to find a Dr. who would take over his practice. Dr. Wong is friendly, I am not sure if he is listening to me or not because he is always working his computer while I am talking to him. He perscribed hbp medication for me and it made my ankles swell, then he tried another and then another and then another again. It was not his fault that my body responded negatively to the prescriptions, but at my insistance, we found one that works for me. Same thing with my cholosteral meds. Finally we found one that is compatible with my body. In each instance, Dr. Wong told me that I would just have to put up with the pain in my legs, light headedness etc. But I insisted and he complied and now I feel quite comfortable with the meds I now take. I am just grateful to have a Doctor in Calgary.

I went to see Andy Wong shortly after moving to Calgary, after a car accident (his office was near where i was living). I had grade 3 whiplash (confirmed by a hospital, a massage therapist and a chiropractor, among others)... but he told me that "because i was young, i shouldn't have any pain." I spent 2 and a half years fighting with an insurance company to get my treatments paid for (of which Dr. Wong never acknowledged that i was injured). I just felt so.... insignificant. I had hoped that it would change, but it never did. It was so upsetting, to not have your own doctor on your side during something like that. I never felt like he listened to what i was saying, and i never felt at ease with him...I always had the feeling he wanted to be somewhere else. Since then i have moved to a small town and have been truly fortunate to have found a caring doctor who actually listens (Dr. Andrew Jackson).

I've been a patient of Dr. Wongs for over five years and have had excellent service and attention since day one. Ingrid (Administrative Assistant) has always been very friendly with me and help me with my medical file dealing with an insurance claim. I suffered from multiple issues and Dr. Wong has addressed all of them by working with me to assist me in weight loss, getting me into the proper specialist resulting in a shoulder surgery. I come from a background of family who are medical professionals and I have full confidence in Dr. Andy Wong as my doctor.
