My skin cancer was misdiagnosed by Dr. Mitchner and I was given steroid cream rather than have the basal cell carcinoma removed. Over the next year it got larger and I ended up requesting a different dermatologist through my family doctor. They saw me, diagnosed it correctly and I had it removed two weeks later.

I'm not sure why Dr. Mitchner didn't diagnose it correctly but it gave me a false sense of security that put me at risk for longer.

Such a pleasant experience. She is never rushed. Unlike my previous doctor, she will discuss several issues during one visit. A knowledgable and professional skin specialist. I highly recommend Dr. Mitchner.

I am very fortunate to have Dr. Mitchner as my doctor! I never ever wait, I never feel rushed and I feel completely heard. I feel very calm because she is so efficient and intelligent. I wish for everyone to have this kind of trust in their doctor!

Dr. Mitchner is a great doctor. She's always on time and always has time to listen, and explain things to me in lay-person's terms. Over the past year I've had more-than-usual health struggles and she has been kind, compassionate and professional.

Lovely doctor. Knows her stuff. And so respectful of her patients which I greatly appreciate: She doesn't overbook and so she can actually see you for your scheduled appointment time without making you hang out long in the waiting room. And she takes time to listen.

Dr Mitchner is a breath of fresh air compared to my last doctor! She's always on time which is so very much appreciated when you have a baby. She trusts what I have to say about my concerns about my child and takes it from there. Always first asking if I have any concerns before checking out babe's measurements. She has a realistic approach and friending manner with my baby

When I raised concerns about my infant daughter's head circumference (which had not been measured at any of her well baby visits with Leslie), Leslie suggested a wait and see approach, and dismissed my comment that her development had plateaued saying, "All babies develop in their own time." After waiting three months, my daughter's head was still growing rapidly. We were referred for a non-urgent ultrasound as Leslie still felt there was nothing wrong. We were fortunate to receive a cancellation appointment at BC Children's for the ultrasound. My daughter had such severely enlarged ventricles in her brain that the radiologist took us immediate to the ER to meet with a neurosurgeon. She had brain surgery five days later.
Dr. Mitchner disregarded my concerns about my baby as the unfounded worries of an anxious new mom. Her wait and see approach essentially meant that she didn't see any obvious signs of brain damage in my child, but we could wait and see if any appeared rather than just ordering an ultrasound when I first raised concerns (that were supported by my baby's rapid head growth).
We were very fortunate that in the time we waited for testing my daughter did not suffer more brain damage than she did. She does have some permanant damage and will never get those three months of her life back.
I no longer see Dr. Mitchner.
