It's such a shame that we can't change family doctors. Going to see Dr Friesen is always stressful. He's dismissive and acts like you have no idea what's going on in your own body. I would love to have a doctor who takes me seriously, but sadly I'm stuck with this GP.

Does not care about patients what so ever. I feel I have no where to go as he is my doctor and I can't find another one. He does not take my very valid concerns seriously.

I hold off going to see Dr. Friesen because when I do, he is dismissive and seems annoyed at your very presence. He delayed hte process of having my son Autism diagnosed by telling me "You have a very smart and quirky son". Thank you so much, Dr. Friesen. Turns out he DOES have autism and your brief time with him in which you asked arbitrary questions that did not relate to being on the spectrum whatsoever, held up the process, and hence his extra support at school. Luckily, I fought and went around you for someone to listen and was able to get the job done myself. I even presented letters from his Kindergarten teachers who were also sure he was on the spectrum. Years and years later we came to you for help in getting some paperwork filled out so he could fly with assistance, and you turned it down. Again, his assessment consisted of asking him how he feels about flying, in which he answered honestly in saying "he is fine with it, but definitely not alone". Because gaining a doctor in Victoria is like winning the lottery, we have no other choice but to continue with him, but we always try walk-in clinics and online help, because he's not a good doctor. He seems to have zero patience and clearly no experience with neurodiversity.

Absolutely the most helpful and caring doctor for the trans community in Victoria; it's not even close. Listens to each concern, and provides a voice for patient needs in a system that can at times feel uncaring. Doggedly refused to let my file be ignored by several doctors who did not have his caring nature.

He did not miss a beat when it came to dealing with other health problems that came up during the appointment, and has always seemed welcoming, empathetic, and very knowledgeable.

Dr. Friesen has been our family doctor for 14 years (family of 4). We are extremely grateful to have him as our family doctor. We've faced some challenging health issues over the years and Dr. Friesen's deliberate, systematic, thorough approach helped and continues to help us navigate challenging time. Dr. Friesen gently speaks directly with the kids and listens to their concerns. He explains everything to the kids and encourages them to participate in their own health decisions.
