Dr Mark Oliver did my L5 surgery 2 months before he passed away. I am pleased with the outcome of my surgery. I was planning to have him remove thoracic and lumbar cysts from my spine this year. We lost a great neurosurgeon.

I had back surgery and that went very well. My dissatisfaction is mainly with the office staff. They mixed my file with someone else with the same name. Took me weeks to straighten that out. I recently got a call from a doctors office in another state looking for me to pay a past due bill. I am assuming the other guy is the one they want. That doctor's office was unconvinced that I was not the one that they wanted. I still can't log on to their internet site months after I initially tried to create an account. Also, I have been asking the office for months to give me an accounting of what they charged and what I have paid as every time I go there, I have paid my copay, but they keep sending me bills for more. So, I am happy with the surgery but very dissatisfied with the office staff.

This doctor did a lumbar fusion for me and I am worse now than before. After the surgery I was in brutal pain, passed off to PA's who said that I had neuropathy in my butt. I asked for appointments with the surgeon but was always passed off to these PA's who don't have an MD after their name. There was absolutely no direction or referrals from these incompetent people or the surgeon himself... I thrown away and on my own. My primary, thank God, made a referral to University of Florida spine clinic.... I am now under their care. ..I do NOT HAVE neuropathy in my butt, but an SI joint problem from the surgery, not that uncommon and am being treated... ...This surgeon and his entire staff should be tar and feathered and run out on a rail.

I used Dr Oliver in 2017 for cervical and lumbar surgery and both were completely successful. Iโ€™m problems again and after talking to other doctors Iโ€™m going right back to him. He may not have a great bedside manner but Iโ€™m not paying him for that. I suffered with migraines for almost 20 years because of my neck pain. When I woke up in recovery I could tell I had instant relief. I did what I was told to do post op and not only did I have 100% recovery I have full range of motion on my neck. He was just as good with my lumbar.

Dr. Oliver did lumbar fusion surgery. So far, after 3 weeks I am still in a lot of pain and the jury on the recovery process is still out.. The surgical drain caused tremendous pain until it was removed in a rehab facility. Morphine didn't touch that pain. Although Dr. Oliver came recommended, he has a 'gruffy' personality and needs to review his bedside 101 book. I only had him do surgery because there are only 2 neuro-surgeons in my city...and he states he has 35 years of experience. I should driven up to UF Shands in Gainesville....where I saw a Dr. Ho a couple of years ago....

Dr. Oliver is a wonderful doctor. I have seen a previous review and could not understand how you can blame a doctor for having to go to pain managment. I had a previous fusion done to my neck by another doctor and had to be in pain managment for the rest of my life. Then seven months ago i was in a car accident, and thanks to DR. Oliver, he was able to do fix the mess in my neck. He has shown me compasion. I am not fond of Monroe hospital at all, but this does not reflect my opinion of Dr. Oliver. He was amazing, and so was his surgical staff. Big shout out to Ashley. I have always known that pain managment, would be a part of my life, this comes with the process. No doctor can give you the out come of any surgery. If they could then they would be God and the first doctor, would have told me what the out come would have been. Thank you Dr. Oliver. My surgery, is just a week out, and it was a very complex surgery, but i felt so safe and trusted you a hundred percent. So thank you again. I would recomend him to anyone, who needs any type of surgery. It is a patients responsbility, to ask doctors questions. I asked as many questions as i could, that related to my situation and all my questions had been answered. My husband even went to see him with his neck situation, and DR. Oilver was extremely honest and upfront, and he was the second opinion for my husband, so we knew, he was honest and upfront. He is not just going to start cuting you open, unless it is necessary. I want everyone i saw the statement about the staff, Yes i had an issue with one person, but the manager, took care of it right away. people today need to learn to handle things in a professional manner. Not every staff member is going to be as nice as others. But, with the expection of one person, every other staff member in his office, has treated us with the utmost respect, and kindness. So before you go to a surgeon, who just wants to start cutting you up, MEET WITH DR,. OLIVER HE IS HONEST, AND FORTHCOMING. Thank you all again.
