I saw this surgeon for about 2 years 2015-2017 at Juravinski and found him to be very disappointing. I was in my early 50s and severely debilitated by my failing knees.but all he ever offered as a solution was assembly line full knee replacements. I made it clear I did not feel this was right for me given my age and wanted to explore other options. He did not cooperate nor show any interest in treating me as an individual- seemed like he was just into the assembly line money train. Total dereliction of duty, in my opinion.
My own research eventually produced partial knee replacements as a solution and when I asked him about that procedure— 2 years in— he said he didn’t do that type of surgery and would refer me to a surgeon who did !!! He withheld this information from me for 2 years - because he couldn’t profit from the procedure? Wow!
Btw, the surgeon he referred me to was wonderful and the surgery was a great success. I got my life and mobility back. There are still great doctors out there- but sadly DeBeer is not one of them.

I had my knee scoped and then a cordizone shot , Dr. De Beer was amazing and how I like my Doctors direct and to the point . I'm not concerned about bedside manner , I care about how good they are . I found him very pleasant and compassionate . Not sure if it's true he is retiring but if so he will be sadly missed

He's the best, hands down. He was so helpful and knowledgeable. Possibly the best thing about Dr. DeBeer was his compassion for my Spinal injury situation. We need more professionals like this man in the specialty fields. Thank you Sir.

I had my elbow cleaned out by Dr DeBeer 30 yrs ago even though he previously told me to go back to work there was nothing he could do. I couldn't use my right arm at all the pain was horrible I had golfers tennis elbow. After being in tears that my family doctor. He talk to Dr. again and he did the surgery. It really helped. Six years ago at 48 I had my right knee replaced. I had to wait about five years even though it was bone on bone but because of my age. I could still walk. I also had bariactric surgery to lose weight for my knee. I was there 2 yrs ago for a f/u where he noticed a infected wound on my leg which was not properly addressed by other repeated dr appts, 2 of the same antibiotics. He was shocked, He opened it up to be sure nothing in there, prescribed a proper antibiotic had his trainee put good old fashioned iodine wound dressing on it and made me come back to see him. He went beyond his expertise to make sure my leg was healed. Sometimes I felt rushed but he is s very busy surgeon. I need surgery on both rotator cuffs unfortunately he doesn't do shoulders or I would have him operate. I heard he retired but obviously not yet. It's a shame to lose one of the best surgeons but hopefully all the interns he trained learned the excellent skills this man has. Wish you the best DrDebeer if I don't get to see you for my next F/U in 2019. Thank you for doing such a great job on my care.

I had gone to Dr. Justin De Beer yesterday, February 8, 2018, with the recommendation of family. My husband and father in law each had one of their hips replaced by him and had absolutely no issues and have been so happy with their results! However, my experience was not as pleasant. I waited a half hour, I guess that’s not bad for a specialist, the staff were very pleasant but were having some difficulties with the computer reading the disks, not their fault. There was however, an other doctor, his name escapes me, there who had seen me and was very pleasant and attentive. He had moved to another patient while the staff were able to get the disc sorted out. Oh, forgot to say that I was there for a one year follow up on my right knee, arthritis it is. However, the week before my appointment I had excruciating pain in my left knee causing me to not be able to put any weight barring pressure. Very painful, so after 3 days of not being able to walk I made a quick trip to the hospital for them to have a look at it. I am not a person who goes to the doctor very often, but knew this was serious enough for me to make a hospital visit, having never had anything wrong with this knee. Well, “bakers cyst” was diagnosed, very painful, I told the doctor there that I had a follow up the following week my orthopaedic doctor next week. His comment was, great, take these results to him and he can advise. I was pleased that I had an appointment the following week and that this didn’t happen to me after my appointment. After the first doctor moved to the next patient while waiting for the computer to be fixed, Dr. De Beer came blazing in, I didn’t know for sure if it was him, as I was unaware that he was coming in. He seemed very annoyed, not sure at who, or me? He just started rambling about that there is nothing he can do and if I wanted to shop around nobody would do anything and if I did find a doctor to do a scope it would be worse. I actually didn’t know what he was talking about as he hadn’t even addressed or acknowledged me when he walked in the room. I tried to tell him about my ultra sound that the staff were getting, he said, I don’t care, ultrasounds are useless, they don’t tell you anything? He was very rude. Made me feel like I was wasting his time, well guess what, you wasted my time! Trust me, Dr De Beers, I’m sure there was an ethical code you had taken , maybe you picked the right time to retire. A very frustrated customer/patient. I have never written a review before, but this disturbed me enough to do so.

I had a total hip replacement done September 25th 2017 at Juravinski Hospital. The surgery was done in 45 minutes. After surgery I had no problem with pain just some discomfort. I have been walking with no cane around the house for 2 weeks. On November 9, 2017 I saw Dr DeBeer and my restrictions were lifted, I am doing very good. I have also done a lot of physio that has helped me do better movements with my leg. I would like to say Thank you very much Dr. J. DeBeer, you're the best. I never thought I would do so well in such a short amount of time. Again, Thank you!!

Before surgery I had a tormenting, relentless, raw to the core pain. Very minimal after surgery and gets better each day. . I had right hip replacement on June 6, 2017, "Direct Lateral" method which took 35 minutes of the 1 1/2 hour that I was booked. . I had follow up appointment yesterday on July 13, 2017. Driving restriction was lifted and and so happy. I have gently gone back to work as a hairdresser. I am pain free just a little discomfort which I treat as a healing process pain. I could not take the pain meds as they made me very sick and caused me to have Vasovagal Attacks. I used Arnica Gel and Ice Paks which worked great for me. Thank you, thank you, thank you to Dr. Justin DeBeer.
