I found that within 2 minutes he was ready to end our consultation. I was referred to him by another surgeon for disc replacement. Bluntly said I was too fat for it. I had to push for him to look into other options - was not helpful at all. Now wants to refer me to pain management. Are doctors not supposed to help people? We know what would fix my problem but doesn't want to do it - feeling I am being discriminated against due to my size. I am overweight but not grossly. Why do doctors not want to help overweight people? I hope to never see him again - find him non-approachable, arrogant, rude.

Having chronic back pain when I was 40 was life changing. After 5 years of pain Dr. Bouchard finally said to me why don't we just take that disk out and replace it. I did not care if he put me on the table right then and opened me up to replace the disk. After surgery when going home it took me a few weeks to believe that what we did was needed. I am now almost 60 years old and do not have any pain. I have never really thanked Dr. Bouchard but he needs to know that he honestly saved my life because trying to teach school with chronic back pain about killed me. I really cannot remember him since it has been 15 years but I do not remember his bed side manner but what a brilliant surgeon. When I got home I went online and watched a disk replacement being done. I am thankful for advanced medicine and for a great surgeon. Thanks Dr. Bouchard you changed my life and many others I am sure!

I found Dr Bouchard very respectful , friendly and a brilliant surgeon. He addressed the concerns I had at length. He requested another MRI to make a more informed decision re the surgery, which makes sense. He did my back surgery and really gave me my life back.

Can we not complain to the college of physicians and surgeons of Alberta when our health concerns are being dismissed even when we pay for healthcare?.

Albertans, Canadians, should be complaining to the government when surgeons such as Dr. Bouchard requests More money to take a more thorough look at MRI findings.

Is it not their job to be thorough Or is the carrot of private pay funds so great that thoroughness is abandoned?

He really lacks bedside manner! I had a fusion which only lasted a year and I had will
Likely require another surgery. Poor communication style .

Dr. Bouchard is great. I originally had my double disc replacement 6.5 years ago in Montreal with a different doctor and now I just had a decompression done by Dr Bouchard. He’s excellent to deal with and has a great balance of being personable and a straight shooter. I couldn’t be happier with my dealings with him and am very greatly for his work. I’m very pleased with my progress with his surgery. Thank you Dr Bouchard!

He was rude and was exactly how everyone described he’d be. I was in and out of his office in a matter of minutes before he kicked me out. Telling me that he didn’t think I deserved his help. Very rude Considering I waited years to get into see him. Very disappointing to say the least.

I found Dr. Bouchard to be rude, self centred, disrespectful, and a poor doctor who made a really bad diagnosis that nearly destroyed my life. I subsequently paid out of pocket to have 3 herniated discs replaced in Europe and my life has only improved! I waited so long to see Bouchard at Caleo that by the time he "assessed" me I had lost my reflex's, was in horrible pain living on morphine (I never take medications unless absolutely necessary) and had muscle loss and sensation.

I waited too long hoping my Canadian medical system would help me but instead Bouchard told me that my cervical herniated discs and osteophytes growing into my spinal cord were a good thing to stabilize the spine. Well, I rarely need to take any pain medications any longer but I still live with some of the permanent damages that were a result of waiting on an arrogant surgeon whose "expert" opinion was dead wrong.

On a positive note, Heather, his admin, is absolutely lovely! That's the only thing going for Bouchard.
