Avoid this hack of a Dr at all costs. Went in for surgery to my nose. Long story short. I hemorrhaged due to Hackman. I would not let Hackman touch my dog let alone a human. Negative rating of - 1000

He constantly belittled my symptoms saying I was just anxious and that’s why I was feeling unwell. I went to a different doctor who was able to diagnose me with a very real and common disease. Dr. Gore-Hickman was kind in the beginning but then quickly turned sour when I questioned what he had said because I still wasn’t feeling well. Also, this really has nothing to do with his actual medical knowledge but he just rubbed me the wrong way by thinking so highly of himself.

This is the first doctor I have seen in 6 years who understood my symptoms and readily was able to give me supports without pushing more medications on me or telling me to move somewhere tropical.

This doctor seems to be one of the least knowledgeable medical "professionals" I've come across.

I underwent two surgeries under him.

Both times he frivolously prescribed strong narcotics for recovery. He also completely dismissed how much of a negative impact the incredibly strong broad spectrum antibiotics had on me.

He completely lacks tact and professionalism. Avoid him and get referred to someone else.

Dr. Gore-Hickman is the best ENT out there. His bed side manner is incredible and he is the most intelligent human. I trust him with any medical information and appreciate all that he has done for me and my family.

This guy botched my simple surgery then had the audacity to say to me "You don't hire a right-handed man to do the job of a left handed man" , smiled, then walked out.
If he wasn't qualified why couldn't he tell me that prior to surgery.
We are calling a lawyer.

Im glad I came here to read comments.
I can't quite say enough about my experiences with him.
I'll just outline quickly the issues I had with this Dr.-

Below was from BASIC ROUTINE sinus surgery- deviated septum
-I was having stitches come out of my nose and cartilidge for years after the last surgery
-the cartilidge in my nose looks butchered, you can see all the stitching
-there was a space where he dug down to the cartiledge, and that was left BARE- with no skin covering it for months. It was an error of his. He refused to deal with it.
-I woke up during the surgery. The nurse was panicking. They ran and topped me up with drugs. This was horrifying, your worst nightmare come true. He denied this.
- I stopped breathing in the recovery room. He denied this and the hospital covered this up. I refused to leave the hospital- and the staff didn't quite know what to do. I didn't know what happened for quite some time. I'll stop there...
-He had me on way too many powerful drugs and I was struggling to breathe at home. This was reckless and dangerous
-I've been struggling with various troublesome symptoms since this last surgery with him, researching as to what could be wrong. DRY, PAINFUL sinuses now that virtually have zero moisture and bleed they're so dry. They feel as dry as the skin on my arm. I feel dizzy, the feeling that there is 'too much air' now etc. I thought I might have 'dry sinus', I'm getting assessed for another potential issue, but now reading the comments below- (and researching this tonight) to my horror I believe I have Empty Nose Syndrome. (I wish I could speak to the person below about this.) I will look into this further.
-He botched my basic simple sinus surgery- the nostril has collapsed, I can't breathe at night and have to tape my nostril open at night, and now use a little appliance to keep my nostril open while I sleep so I can breathe- because he butchered the surgery.
-While attempting to discuss a few of these issues he was very arrogant, cavalier and showed no remorse and lied as much as he could.
He then had the balls to made an unspeakable surgeon's joke to me, and walked out. I won't repeat it.
-I realized later that when I was younger he was offering me and pressuring me to do a surgery on me for 'free'. I had told my general practitioner about this who seemed alarmed. Dr. Gore-Hickman had offered me a surgery in which he had no qualifications for and wanted to experiment on me. Yes. Really.
I'll stop now. I think you've got the picture.
Remember, that statutes of limitations is 2 years in Saskatchewan if you need a lawyer.
RESEARCH and read reviews before any Dr. comes at you with a knife.

This was all from basic routine sinus surgery, deviated septum and trimming so I could breathe better. Nothing complicated whatsoever.

Now Im seriously beginning to wonder if I have a Cerebral Spinal Fluid leak since the 2nd and last surgery I had with him.. Still trying to clean up the mess from him, years later.

What could go wrong during one 'simply' sinus surgery you ask?

Dr Gore Hickman did my deviated septum and sinus surgery. He totally botched my septum surgery and now the only option is to get a second surgery to fix it. But that’s not the scariest issue. Trusting him when he told me that I needed sinus surgery, and him hurrying and glossing over explaining to me exactly what he would be doing, just saying he would clean up and open up my airway, me, not knowing anything about sinus surgery, I trusted him. I now have empty nose syndrome, a debilitating disease caused by Turbinates reduction that I had no idea he would do. Look up empty nose syndrome and you will think twice about doing sinus surgery, especially by this doctor.

Dr Gore Hickman Is one of the best when it comes to repair of deviated septum’s. I am surprised to read comments about their concerns months after the procedure. Basically bed rest for 2 weeks is what they say and it is logical to have some problems longer for a period of time when you have your body structure altered, I understand the frustration, but trust me when I say you will be thankful when it all settles down.
