Prodigious thanks, to Dr K Hammond. My husband and I are here from Ontario, for the Winter.
I had 2 visits to Emerg in order to mitigate a tenacious UTI. Only till I was fortunate enough to
be treated by Dr Hammond, did this infection get better. He is “brilliant. “ Dr Hammond has no ego
very refreshing.

After my concern over a rapidly degrading surgical wound being dismissed by both my surgeon and an er doctor, I was finally taken seriously by an ER doctor who gave me IV antibiotics and a referral to the OPAT at Royal Jubilee, where I was treated by Nurse Emma M (amazing) and Dr Hammond. They both were kind, but didn’t sugar coat anything. I felt heard and cared for by them. There was a lot of dead time just sitting in a room waiting, I was there from 730 am until almost noon. Emma popped in occasionally to check up on me and to let me know what was going on. I’m still undergoing treatment but I feel that if the ER Doctor (I wish I knew your name, tall dark haired doctor with an Eastern European accent!) and Dr Hammond hadn’t taken my concern seriously and acted promptly I would be in a very different position right now.

My story of Dr. Hammond is a bit different. I had been admitted to the hospital with pneumonia, however, I also had an ongoing issue with my leg (was scheduled for amputation). I had a 4th year resident doctor looking at my leg, and she contacted Dr. Hammond in regards to my leg, he came directly to the hospital, looked at my leg, and together they determined a treatment for my leg which did involve another doctor. To make a long story short, I did not lose my leg, if Dr. Hammond had not gone to the measures he did to involve others and continue to follow-up I would not have my leg today. It truly was a case of doctors working together, but it all started with the 4th year resident (who's name I wish I remembered as she was amazing), and Dr. Hammond

I saw him at OPAT at the Jubilee Hospital and since he didn't introduce himself nor tell me his job title, I had no idea who he was until I got a referral letter to see a dermatologist from him, had I not received that letter I would have no idea who he was or what he does for a living.

Dr Hammond's very good bedside manner makes it possible for a wider variety of patients to benefit from his knowledge. I don't always feel respected or taken seriously by specialists, so it's worth mentioning it when I am.

My wife saw him twice and he was quite dismissive with a sample and pictures of what was going on for my wife. He quickly looked and said, I don't know what that is! My wife has been battling something in her digestive track for a year now, which has brought her to tears daily with extreme discomfort. Her skin is rashy, and itches constantly.
