Dr. Tuckey was referred to me for six gum grafts which I had in January of this year. I had been avoiding having gum grafts and was highly anxious about the procedure. She and her staff were most helpful and supportive during my post-op care. Not only was she available by telephone as I was recovering, she also made time for an in office visit. I have had excellent results from the grafting and would highly recommend her for any type of periodontal work.

Dr. Tuckey is amazing. I had to have a fairly substantial gum graft done and I was quite anxious about it. She was extremely understanding and showed great care to work around my anxiety and make the process as smooth as possible for me. Her staff was also extremely supportive and were very helpful even as I frequently called them with questions. The result was great and I'm very happy with both the structure and appearance of the graft. My regular dentist also commented that he's very impressed with the result. I'd highly recommend seeing Dr. Tuckey if you need this type of procedure.

As a health care provider myself, I understand that it's impossible to make everyone happy. I found Dr. Tuckey to be down to earth and easy to talk to and understand. The treatment that was recommended was logical and results were exactly as expected and explained. I appreciated that her staff helped with my insurance and I also appreciated the follow up calls I received. The office environment was pleasant and welcoming. I would have no problem returning if I needed another treatment.

It is both fortunate and unfortunate that Tuckey's front line staff are friendly since it helps compensate for her complete inability to connect with her patients on a human level or even fake some kind of sympathetic response (so unfortunate in that you could be misled). If you have any anxiety issues (as nearly anyone would with dental surgery) you will definitely want to run not walk. Her arrogance shows up in various ways: she does not say anything to the patient upon arrival and given that she keeps her mask on at all times, you might not even know it was her entering the room; any questions about potential problems are answered by her declaring her work to be "beautiful." The initial consult was fine, so it was a particularly great shock to me to be so dismissively treated when I was most vulnerable. Once the money was paid (up front), she refused to directly answer my concerns after surgery, and left great long suture ends in my mouth. I thought this sort of extreme doctor's arrogance had died out decades ago but I guess she is hoping for a comeback so that she doesn't have to speak to her patients - clearly beneath such a self-declared genius. As for the good reviews, I am surprised, but I noticed the person before me was offered sedation (never discussed or offered to me) and practically carried in and fussed over. How they decide who they "like" is beyond me. I guess I didn't have the secret code.

I saw Dr. Tuckey in the midst of a brutal dental experience, I think if anyone's ever been given an excuse to distrust the dental industry I'd be one of them but while I think I've seen the worst of the dental industry I have full trust in Dr. Tuckey and she was a huge help even if part of that was just helping convince me that the dental infection that I was sick from for months was now totally gone. I have no problem believe that Dr. Tuckey actually cares about her patients and treats them as such and believe me, I cant say that for all of the dental industry.

The way Dr. Tuckey and her assistant worked on my surgery was deeply impressive. While I would not say that having a gingival graft is fun, they did a fine job of making it as comfortable a process as it could be.

I was referred to Dr. Tuckey’s office to undergo four gingival grafts to resolve a gum recession issue – one on each top corner, and one on each bottom. Overall I found the experience with her and her staff to be very positive. Three aspects in particular stand out for me. I found everyone there to be very friendly with a pleasant and caring bedside manner. I felt their attitude demonstrated a genuine interest in understanding and attending to my needs throughout my procedure, recovery, and subsequent follow-ups. Secondly, I had several questions for Dr. Tuckey about the procedure including a minor issue I had while I was at home recovering. I was very impressed with how she took the time to understand the question I was asking, and respectfully provided an explanation that was thorough whilst easy to understand. I found it not only reassuring to understand that my issue during recovery was normal, but to also understand why it was occurring. Finally, the quality of the work itself. I am very happy with the results. The recession is not only gone, but in some respects you can’t tell there ever was a problem. Fantastic! Dr. Tuckey and staff have my complete recommendation, and I thank them for making this procedure and short recovery the best one it could be.

I saw dr Tanya Tuckey at UBC for an anterior tooth extraction leading to an implant. Her poor work and total lack of accountability regarding having given me incorrect post op instructions led to dry socket, major bone loss and a cascade of ensuing dental problems which have yet to be resolved 5 years later! Memories of her arrogance and dismissive attitude linger on as does the dental disaster she left me with.
