I had a minimally invasive lower back spinal fusion in early May 2017. My post-op nurse told me that if she had to have surgery she would want Dr. Louis Chang. Starting the day after coming home from the hospital I was walking 2 miles a day. Before the surgery walking was very painful. I was only on pain medication for 1 week. I went swimming in my community pool 4 weeks after the surgery. Dr. Louis Chang gave me my life back.

Dr. Chang is great. He performed a craniotomy to remove a benign meningioma in June of 2015. Surgery was successful. He explained things clearly and answered any questions myself or my family had. I would recommend him to anyone. Very satisfied patient.

I was terrified to have the ACDF C5-C7 with plating. Dr Chang throughly explained the surgery and the expected outcome. I've had a few surgeries in the past that were difficult post ops so needless to say I was terrified. 3 days post op and I'm home feeling fantastic!! All the pain pre surgery is GONE!! Dr Chang and his OR staff are super stars in my book. I can't thank them enough for my outcome. Dr Chang , I type his name with a big smile on my face, truly a topped ranked neuro surgeon who I had the privilege of his mind and hands to fix me!! Thank you Dr Chang!! Also a big thank you to Suzanne for answering all my concerns and just listening to my fears pre-op.

Dr. Chang is by far the best Dr I have ever seen! I usually do not look forward to Doctors appointments, usually feel rushed or unable to ask all my questions, but I never once felt this way with Dr. Chang. I was told by another surgeon that I needed a fusion, after meeting with Dr. Chang he explained to me why I did not and why he was confident that I would be better off with his recommended surgery. I can not say enough good things about him and what he has done for me.

He doesn't inform patients about what to expect. He is just concerned with performing surgery. At my first appointment with Dr. Louis Chang he reviewed my MRI and said it would be minimally invasive surgery and I would be in the hospital for 3 days. He made it sound simple. Then I got scheduled for the surgery, expecting to be home after 3 days. He did not prepare me at all for what was to come, nor did he take into consideration my medical history and that I am 81 years old with osteoporosis. When I woke up in recovery, I was screaming from the pain. It was the most horrible pain I have had in my life. The pain medication did not help. Not once did he follow-up with me at the hospital after the surgery. Medicare only covers 3 days in the hospital, so I was transferred to a rehab place where I stayed for 6 weeks, because Medicare doesn't cover it after that. I had to go to my son's house cause he has one floor and I couldn't handle steps. I still haven't recovered and experience pain and discomfort every day. It's been 10 weeks since surgery and I'll need to be in a brace for another 6 months. I am still taking pain medication and have severe pain every morning. At no time did he prepare me for this or give any indication of the pain and lengthy recovery time. I never would have had the surgery had I known. I pray I am able to recover from this.
